The Fuenlabrada City Council has given its nod to the expansion of the Fernando Torres Municipal Stadium (Spain). Once the expansion work is complete, the facility’s capacity will get increased to 6,600. And, once the formal approval for expansion is given, the contracting company will draw up the details of the final project and start work this Summer. The objective of the stadium expansion, which has a budget of close to 6.5 million euros, is to conform to the rules laid down by LaLiga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

The ‘CFFUENLABRADA’ stated that the expansion works will allow the installation of new stands to increase the current capacity, and, at the same time, the stadium will boast plush facilities which will work to its advantage in hosting professional competitions. Improvisations will be made to the Press zone and premier facilities will be made available for fans.

The 5,400-capacity Fernando Torres Municipal Stadium is a multiuse stadium located in Fuenlabrada, Community of Madrid, Spain. It is currently used for football matches and is the home stadium of CF Fuenlabrada.

CF Fuenlabrada is a Spanish football team based in Fuenlabrada, in the autonomous community of Madrid, Spain. Founded in 1975, it plays in the Segunda División, holding home matches at the Fernando Torres Municipal Stadium with a capacity of 5,400 seats.

The ‘CFFUENLABRADA’ further stated that in addition, floodlights will be installed so as to facilitate holding games at nights. Broadcasting of the fixtures will be aired on television as per technical requirements laid down by LaLiga and the RFEF.

The entire revamp work will be completed in 14 months’ time of which four months will be devoted to drawing out the project plan and 10 months will be devoted to the entire redecoration exercise. However, the entire rehabilitation work will be done in such a manner so that the regular sporting events at the stadium do not get affected.
