The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is back in Saudi Arabia for another double-header in the dark with races on January 26th and January 27th, 2024.

‘fiaformulae.com’ stated that Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, gets set to host another pair of night races as Formula E illuminates the historic desert surroundings of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Diriyah ePrix is a race of the single-seater, electrically powered Formula E championship held in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. It was first held as part of the 2018-2019 seasons and was the first Formula E race to be held in the Middle East.

The Diriyah ePrix is held at the Riyadh Street Circuit in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The track is 1.55 miles long and has 21 turns. It runs past the 15th century At-Turaif United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site.

A ‘Linked Post By Diriyah Company’ stated, “The sixth edition of Formula E is taking place during Diriyah Season 2024 which falls under #DiriyahCompany. A series of events that bring Diriyah’s 600-year-old heritage to life. The racetrack goes around several of #Diriyah’s attractions such as #BujairiTerrace, #LayaliDiriyah and more. #Diriyah is transforming into a global sports destination where the world’s best athletes compete. This year’s #DiriyahEPrix embodies that vision, driven by the vision and continued support of HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, #DiriyahCompany’s Chairman of the Board.”

The Diriyah Company is a Saudi Arabian giga project that aims to make Diriyah a global destination. The company is responsible for preserving Diriyah’s history and heritage while creating a cultural destination. The company is a major project of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and is wholly owned by the PIF.

Delegates from the Diriyah Company are one of the confirmed attendees for the Coliseum Summit MENA to be held on February 5th, 2024 at the Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)-based the Public Investment Fund (PIF) is the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia. It is among the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world with total estimated assets of US$776 billion. It was created in 1971 for the purpose of investing funds on behalf of the Government of Saudi Arabia.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is a single-seater motorsport championship for electric cars. The series was conceived in 2011 by Jean Todt (former President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) and Alejandro Agag (Spanish businessman) who is also the current chairman of Formula E Holdings. The championship’s founding mission was to showcase sustainable mobility by racing through the streets of iconic Cities. The championship also serves as a competitive platform to test and develop e-mobility-relevant electrification.

Paris (France)-based the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) is an association established on June 20th, 1904 to represent the interests of motoring organizations and motor car users. It is the governing body for many auto racing events, including Formula One. The FIA also promotes road safety around the world.

London (UK)-based Formula One, commonly known as Formula 1 or F1, is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

‘fiaformulae.com’ further stated that it’s not an easy night-time drive for the field as they have to master the tricky twists and turns of the Diriyah Street Circuit, with the spotlights and their reflexes to guide them around this challenging track.

‘First Class’

‘ARAB NEWS’ stated that Zak Brown, the head honcho of McLaren Racing (British motor racing team), has praised the Diriyah E-Prix as “first class”.

The Californian, a professional racing driver before entering motorsport’s business and commercial worlds, is in Saudi Arabia supporting NEOM McLaren Formula E Team drivers Jake Hughes and Sam Bird at the Diriyah E-Prix. He lauded the Kingdom’s hosting of elite motorsports.

‘ARAB NEWS’ quoted Brown as stating, “The facilities are great, and I always like when you land at an airport and as soon as you land you know that there’s a race going on. It means you know that the City and the country are fully behind the race.”

Brown noted that the Diriyah E-Prix, in its sixth edition this year after the inaugural outing in December 2018, was “very important” as part of Saudi Arabia’s wider ambitions of growing motorsport in the country.

Concluded Brown, “Just look at what Saudi Arabia has done through different races in different territories – there’s been lots of different fans exposed to different forms of motor racing. The race in Diriyah is really well attended, looks great under the lights and represents Saudi Arabia really well.”
