The South Korean football club Gangwon FC has signed a naming rights agreement with the High1 Resort (ski resort) and henceforth its home ground – the Gangneung Stadium in Gangneung, South Korea – is now known as the Gangneung High1 Arena (Gangneung HIGH1 ARENA).

‘GANGWON FC’ stated that a board carrying the name ‘Gangneung High1 Arena’ is displayed outside the venue and it also serves as a photo zone for the fans to click photos with the stadium name as the backdrop.

The Gangwon FC is a South Korean football club based in Gangwon Province (South Korea). They joined the K League as its 15th club for the 2009 season. The club is sponsored by the High1 Resort.

The K League is South Korea’s professional football league. It includes the First Division K League 1 and the Second Division K League 2.

The Gangneung High1 Arena is a multipurpose stadium in Gangneung, South Korea. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity to hold 22,333 spectators and was opened in 1984. It is the home ground of the Gangwon FC.

The High1 Resort is a ski resort in Jeongseon, South Korea. Owned by the Public Corporation of Kangwon Land it was developed to revitalize the declining mining towns of Gohan and Sabuk. The resort opened in December 2006. It is one of the largest ski resorts in South Korea.

‘GANGWON FC’ further stated that the club plans to highlight the name High1 Resort in its promotional materials.

The City of Gangneung helped the club to secure the above naming rights deal. It has brought together the leading companies, the local Governments and the community clubs in the province and is expected to boost growth. The High1 Resort will also be able to effectively promote its brand through sports marketing.
