German Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach has sold the naming rights to its stadium for the first time.

Yahoo Sports said that starting next season, Borussia-Park will become Ista-Borussia Park.

The name change reflects the extension of the partnership with official sustainability sponsor ‘ista’.

The club said that keeping the name Borussia-Park that fans have been using for the last 20 years was essential – something ista agreed upon almost immediately.

The agreement, originally signed in summer 2025, will run until at least 30th June 2031 and reflects the club’s and ista’s commitment to sustainable energy use, both inside and outside of the stadium itself.

Gladbach will receive €4-5 million per year for the naming sponsorship, according to sources close to the deal.

Borussia Verein für Leibesübungen 1900 e.V. Mönchengladbach, better known as Borussia Mönchengladbach and colloquially known as just Gladbach, is a professional football club based in Mönchengladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. They play in the Bundesliga, the top-flight of German football.

The 54,057-capacity Borussia-Park is a football stadium in Mönchengladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, which serves as the home stadium of Gladbach.

Borussia’s CEO Dr Stefan Stegemann said, “We’re very pleased to have found a partner in ista that isn’t here to just change the name of our stadium, but instead provide great improvements to both the surrounding buildings on site as well as the stadium itself. Their innovative building technology will add great value to the club.

“If we want to make improvements in our sustainability, we need to do it with a trustworthy and competent partner with long-term goals.”

ista’s CEO Hagen Lessing said, “We’re incredibly proud to become naming partners to the stadium of a club so steeped in tradition as Borussia.

Borussia and ista are a perfect match, in that we share the same values of innovation, responsibility and the desire to bring about change. This partnership is something we are incredibly passionate about.

“It’s for this very reason that Borussia and ista have extended their partnership to include the naming rights to the stadium: ista isn’t just in the name – we’re part of the stadium.”

Borussia’s director of sponsorship Guido Uhle added, “We’re convinced that we’ve found the perfect partner to take over our naming rights.

“We want to be transparent when it comes to our energy usage and make real savings. Sustainability is more than just a side project for us – it’s our responsibility.”
