Tender launched for new stadium in Rzeszów Poland Image: City of Rzeszów

Work on the Podkarpackie Athletics Center in Rzeszów, Poland, is to begin this year. The City (Rzeszów) made a tender announcement recently for the design and construction of the facility and plans to open the doors of the arena by the year 2025.

‘City of Rzeszow’ stated that the Mayor of Rzeszów, Konrad Fijołek, informed that the tender announcement was made during a presser held in the town hall recently. He also stressed that the entire tender floating exercise is the result of several months of arduous work carried out by a whole team of professionals.

Averred Mayor Fijołek, “Tender being floated for the planned facility is a thrilling moment for us. But to reach even to this point, it was a kind of Gordian knot. The Athletics Center project has been gathering dust over the years. At last, we have been able to purchase the land for construction work to start on the above venue which will be constructed in a manner that it will meet the requirements of both the game of football as well as athletics.”

‘City of Rzeszow’ further stated that a performance audit was carried out and it was highly recommended that a new stadium should be built.

The stadium will also meet the requirements of the Polish Athletics Association and the Polish Football Association (PZPN). Top-flight soccer clubs will also be able to play in the arena and the facility will be built in such a manner that athletic showpieces can also be staged.

Project Plans:

  • It will be a 7,900-seat arena;
  • The entire auditorium will be covered with a roof;
  • An additional covered athletics track will be built; and
  • A space will be created to organize cultural activities.
