The LaLiga club Sevilla FC are forging ahead with plans to renovate their home ground – the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in Seville, Spain – and work is scheduled to start in 2026.

‘Football ESPANA’ stated that ‘Los Nervionenses’ have not arrived at any final decision as to who will be in overall charge of the stadium makeover project but the likelihood of IDOM being selected over Legends as the company who will call the shots in the above development seems likely.

The Sevilla Fútbol Club is a Spanish professional football club based in Seville, the capital and largest City of the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. It plays in Spanish football’s top flight, LaLiga. Sevilla have won the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Cup/Europa League (the second-tier competition of European club football) seven times, the most by any club.

The 43,883-capacity Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium is a football stadium in Seville, Spain. It is the home stadium of Sevilla Fútbol Club and is named after the club’s former President, Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

Bilbao (Spain)-based IDOM is a multinational corporation which provides consulting, engineering and architecture services in Spain and internationally.

Javier Dávila de Eusebio, Sports Architecture BDM, IDOM, Spain, is a Member of Coliseum – Global Sports Venue Alliance.

Founded in 2008, New York (US)-based Legends is a premium experiences company with six divisions operating worldwide – Global Planning, Global Sales, Hospitality, Global Partnerships, Global Merchandise, and Global Technology Solutions – offering clients and partners a 360-degree service solution platform to elevate their brand and execute their vision.

Currently, Legends works with marquee clients across business verticals including professional sports collegiate, attractions, entertainment, and conventions and leisure. Legends are the industry leaders in designing, planning and realizing exceptional experiences in sports and entertainment.

‘Football ESPANA’ further stated that Legends had proposed that the stadium capacity should be expanded by circa 1,200 seats, but that 10 percent of the 45,000-seater should be reserved as VIP seats.

However, Sevilla wants to raise the stadium strength to 55,000. Hence, they will start negotiations with IDOM who Stadium have also been involved with the 53,289-capacity San Mamés in Bilbao, Spain, home of the LaLiga team Athletic Club, and the 23,008-capacity Estadio de la Cerámica in Villarreal, Spain, home venue of the LaLiga club Villarreal CF.

Sevilla is studying the project report submitted by IDOM and will give their feedback at the earliest possible.

Once the renovation work starts, Sevilla can move to the 60,000-capacity La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, Spain, if they wish to do so.
