The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the dates and the venues for this year’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

‘icc-cricket.com’ stated that the 13th edition of the Women’s 50-over World Cup will run from September 30th until November 2nd with five venues across India and Sri Lanka to be used for the eight-team tournament. These will be – the 32,000-capacity M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru, Karnataka), the 37,800-capacity Assam Cricket Association Stadium (Guwahati, Assam), the 30,000-capacity Holkar Stadium (Indore, Madhya Pradesh), the 27,500-capacity ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh), and the 35,000-capacity R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka).

Dubai (UAE)-based the International Cricket Council (ICC) is the global governing body of cricket. It was founded as the Imperial Cricket Conference in 1909 by representatives from Australia, England and South Africa. In 1965, the body was renamed as the International Cricket Conference and adopted its current name in 1987.

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is the quadrennial international championship of Women’s One Day International Cricket tournament. Matches are played as One Day Internationals over 50 overs per team.

‘icc-cricket.com’ further stated that the event will commence with a blockbuster clash featuring India in Bengaluru on September 30th as the Women’s Cricket World Cup returns to the country after 12 years.

The first Semi-Final will take place in either Guwahati or Colombo on October 29th with the second Semi-Final to be played the following day on October 30th in Bengaluru.

The two finalists will then have at least two days to prepare for the title decider with the Final of the 2025 Women’s World Cup to be held in either Bengaluru or Colombo on November 2nd.

The eight teams that will feature in the Women’s World Cup are India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

Australia will enter the event as the reigning champions having defeated England in the final of the most recent Women’s World Cup in New Zealand in 2022. They are also the most successful team in the tournament history having been crowned champions on seven occasions.

The key fixtures for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England were also announced with the ICC Chair Jay Shah reiterating the governing body’s commitment to the women’s game.

Stated Shah, “The fans have shown great support for the women’s game in recent years and I am sure they will start planning for these showpiece events now that they have key dates and venues. Women’s cricket stands at the forefront of our vision and we are confident that these two upcoming tournaments will not only sustain the incredible momentum we’ve built in recent years but lift it to greater heights.”

Pakistan will play their matches on neutral territory in Colombo including their game against India.

Should Fatima Sana’s team qualify for the knockouts the Semi-Final or Final would also be played in Sri Lanka. Pakistan is currently ranked No. 8 on the ICC’s ODI team charts and has never advanced to the Finals of a women’s World Cup.

The R. Premadasa Stadium hosted its first women’s internationals since 2016 in March, an ODI tri-series between Sri Lanka, India and South Africa.

Visakhapatnam last hosted women’s internationals in 2014 while India and England played two T20Is at Guwahati’s Assam Cricket Association Stadium in 2019 and the Holkar Stadium has never hosted a women’s international.

Australia will have a golden opportunity to acclimatize to Indian conditions ahead of their title defence with Alyssa Healy’s team to meet India in three one-dayers at Chennai’s (Tamil Nadu) 38,200-capacity M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on September 14th-17th-20th.

The ICC and the England and Wales Cricket Board (the national governing body of cricket in England and Wales, UK) have also confirmed further details around the next T20 World Cup (the biennial international championship for Women’s Twenty20 International cricket) to be held in June-July next year.

England will kick off the tournament at Edgbaston on June 12th against a yet-to-be-confirmed opponent while the 27,500-capacity The Oval in London (UK) will host both semi-finals on June 30th and July 2nd.

The venues for that tournament were unveiled last month when it was also confirmed that the 31,180-capacity Lord’s (London, England), which was also the venue where England lifted the

ODI World Cup trophy in 2017, would host the finale of the expanded 12-team tournament on July 5th, 2026.
