A ceremony for laying the foundation stone of the largest football stadium in Kazakhstan in keeping with the international standards took place in the City of Shymkent.

‘en.inform.kz’ stated that attending the event was the Mayor of Shymkent Gabit Syzdykbekov.

Kazakhstan’s largest football stadium will be located in Bozaryk-2 micro district in Shymkent. The stadium slated for construction this year is to occupy an area of 21 hectare and will boast 35,000 seats. The construction of the facility is set to be completed by the middle of 2026.

‘en.inform.kz’ further stated that the City’s current stadium named after Kazhymukan Munaitpasov (Kazakh wrestler) was built in 1969 and can hold 18,000 spectators.

The Kazhymukan Munaitpasov Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Astana, Kazakhstan. It is named after the Kazakh wrestler Kazhymukan Munaitpasov. He was the first Kazakh who became a world champion. The stadium is currently used mostly for association football matches and holds 12,350 people. It is the home venue of the FC Ordabasy who plays in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the top division of football in Kazakhstan.
