Renderings have been unveiled for the planned venue in the City of Suhareka in Kosovo (country in Southeast Europe).

The relevant authorities in Kosovo have been criticized time and again for the below-standard sports infrastructure in the country and the above development comes as a welcome piece of news. In fact, the Kosovo Government and the sports authorities are finally pulling up their socks and are planning to invest heavily in sprucing up the sports infrastructure of the country and rejig the venues to facilitate the holding of the Mediterranean Games in 2030.

‘KOHA’ stated that the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Kosovo, Hajrulla Çeku, revealed the renderings of the planned stadium. He informed that the planned facility will be a Category Two stadium boasting 6,518 seats.

Çeku wrote on his Facebook Page that “the venue would meet the highest international standards and the concept of the stadium has already been chalked out and the other related works will get rolling next year.”

The top-notch football club of Kosovo FC Ballkani is pleased as punch over the planned Suhareka stadium news – “We are very happy that finally our City will get a smart-spiffy facility to call its own. It will also help in further promoting soccer in Suhareka and we hope that the stadium opens its doors at the earliest.”

The FC Ballkani, commonly known as Ballkani, is a professional football club based in Suhareka, Kosovo. The club plays in the Football Superleague of Kosovo which is the top tier of football in the country. The 1,500-capacity Theranda City Stadium in Suhareka serves as their home ground.

‘KOHA’ further stated that Ballkani is the most successful football club in Kosovo but they lament their present home facility leaves much to be desired. The club is forced to play their European competitions’ fixtures in some other venue out of Suhareka.

The authorities concerned in Kosovo have come under fire several times for doing little for the upkeep of the sports infrastructure. Sources revealed that a lot of money has gone down the drain. For example, the newly set up gym in Istog is not in a usable state and is being renovated again! Same is the condition with the several other sports facilities in the country, it is reported.
