The 37,792-capacity Elland Road, also called the Elland Road Football Stadium or Elland Road Stadium, is a football stadium in Beeston, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England (UK) which has been the home of the Championship club the Leeds United since the club’s formation in 1919. The stadium is the 13th largest football stadium in England.

‘KSS’ further stated that the architectural design seamlessly blends the timeless traditions of a four-stand stadium with a modern, sophisticated aesthetic. This evolution of Elland Road enhances its iconic atmosphere while subtly showcasing its impressive scale and volumes. The result is a stadium that exudes understated elegance and contemporary charm inviting the fans to experience the magic of football in a setting that feels both familiar and inspiring.

Design Details:

  • The design has been developed with the internal functionality shaping the overall form;
  • The external materials have been selected to reflect the club’s identity with the color palette and finishes sympathetic to the character of the existing stadium; and

The next stage is for the Leeds City Councilors to discuss the ‘pre-application’ on May 8th.

The newly-promoted club are aiming to expand Elland Road to become “one of the biggest stadiums in the country”.

Daniel Farke’s (Leeds United Manager) side sealed their return to the Premier League on Easter Monday after their peer team – the Sheffield United F.C. – failed to beat the Burnley F.C.

Days later, the Leeds fans were given more good news ahead of the next season.

It had been required in order for the proposed plans to move forward and for any work to be completed.

The committee was also briefed on further plans to regenerate the area around Elland Road, including the new transport links.

The planning permission for the redevelopment work cites an eventual capacity of up to 56,000 but it is understood the number will end up closer to 53,000 fans.

This increase would put the Elland Road Stadium into the top 10 biggest football stadiums in England.

At a meeting held recently the Leeds City Council agreed to dispose of the land it owns around Elland Road.

The move was a key step in the club’s planned expansion of the 37,792-capacity stadium.

Following the vote a spokesperson for the Leeds City Council said, “The Leeds City Council’s Executive board has just unanimously agreed on the ambitious regeneration vision to make the newly-promoted Leeds United Football Club’s Elland Road Stadium one of the biggest in the country.”

In an announcement on the club’s website Leeds confirmed the expansion will improve the general admission (GA) and hospitality facilities.

Earlier in the month of April the Council leader Councilor James Lewis had explained, “The Elland Road and Leeds United are part of the heart and soul of the City and the club deserves a stadium befitting of its special status and incredible fans. Naturally, we’re keen to support this and to work closely with the club to ensure they are in the best possible position to achieve their ambitions and build a bigger, brighter future for the club, their supporters and sport in the City. From a wider perspective the regeneration of the Elland Road area also represents one of the City’s most exciting development opportunities for a generation which would revitalize a huge area of Leeds and potentially bring hundreds of millions of pounds into our local economy.”

Leeds has played at Elland Road since their formation in 1919 and has renovated Elland Road multiple times throughout their history.

As it stands 26,000 supporters are currently on the club’s season ticket waiting list ahead of their return to the Premier League.
