The National Stadium at Bukit Jalil (an affluent suburb in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) has been renamed as the TM National Stadium while the Putra Stadium in Kuala Lumpur is now known as the Unifi Arena.

The stadiums’ new names took effect from March 6th.

‘nst.com.my’ stated that the two stadiums were rebranded following a strategic partnership between Telekom Malaysia (TM) and the Malaysia Stadium Corporation (MSC).

The Bukit Jalil National Stadium, also known as the TM National Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a multipurpose stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With a capacity to hold 87,500 spectators it is the largest stadium in Southeast Asia, the fourth largest in Asia and the 15th largest in the world.

The 16,000-capacity Putra Indoor Stadium, currently named as the Unifi Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a multipurpose indoor arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)-based Telekom Malaysia is the national connectivity and digital infrastructure provider and Malaysia’s leading integrated telco offering a comprehensive suite of communication services and solutions in fixed (telephony and broadband), mobility, content, WiFi, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Cloud, and smart services. Telekom Malaysia is driven by stakeholder value creation in a highly competitive environment and places, emphasis on delivering an enhanced customer experience via continuous customer service quality improvements and innovations whilst focusing on increased operational efficiency and productivity.

‘nst.com.my’ further stated that previously the Putra Stadium was known as the Axiata Arena after utilizing naming rights from the telecommunications company over the past few years.

Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)-based the Axiata Group Berhad (formerly known as the TM International Berhad) is a Malaysian multinational telecommunications conglomerate with extensive operations in Asia.

The MSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Iliyas Jamil said the partnership with Telekom Malaysia was a vital step in ensuring both the venues remain relevant and competitive at an international level.

Concluded Jamil, “The proceeds from this partnership will be channeled toward upgrading and improving the stadium facilities to provide a better experience for the visitors.”
