The Major League Soccer (MLS) team LA Galaxy’s Fourth of July match against their peer team LAFC at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California (US) set a new MLS standalone attendance record with a soldout crowd of 82,110 fans.

‘LA Galaxy’ stated that the match on July 4th between the LA Galaxy and the LAFC marked the 20th edition across all competitions of El Tráfico (soccer rivalry between the two MLS clubs) with the Galaxy leading the all-time series 8-6-5.

The LA Galaxy, also known as the Los Angeles Galaxy, is an American professional men’s soccer club based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area (US). The Galaxy competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. The club began play in 1996 as one of the league’s 10 charter members. The 27,000-capacity Dignity Health Sports Park is their residence.

The Coliseum Summit US will be held on September 6th-7th, 2023 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Football Club, commonly referred to as LAFC, is an American professional men’s soccer team based in Los Angeles, California (US). The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member club of the league’s Western Conference. The 22,000-capacity BMO Stadium serves as their home ground.

The 89,702-capacity Rose Bowl is an outdoor athletic stadium located in Pasadena, California (US). Opened in October 1922, the stadium is recognized as a National Historic Landmark and a California Historic Civil Engineering landmark.

The El Tráfico, also known as the Los Angeles Derby, is a soccer rivalry between the two Major League Soccer clubs based in the Greater Los Angeles area, the LA Galaxy and the Los Angeles FC.

The Independence Day, known colloquially as the Fourth of July, is a Federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence, which was ratified by the Second Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776, establishing the United States of America.

‘LA Galaxy’ further stated that the previous standalone attendance record was set on March 5th, 2022, when the Galaxy squared off against their peer team Charlotte FC before 74,479 fans at the 74,867-capacity Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. Additionally, the LA Galaxy was also part of the fourth-most attended crowd in the MLS history when the club squared off against their peer team Atlanta United FC before 72,548 fans in an MLS Regular Season match held at the 71,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 3rd, 2019.

The Major League Soccer is a men’s professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport’s highest level in the United States. The league comprises 29 teams – 26 in the United States and 3 in Canada – since the 2023 season. The league is headquartered in Midtown Manhattan (US).
