Manchester City announced new entertainment destination will be called Medlock Square Image: Manchester City

Premier League club Manchester City FC has unveiled Medlock Square, a new entertainment zone between Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live.

The newest chapter in the evolution of the Etihad Campus, Medlock Square is a year-round 365-day entertainment destination.

Medlock Square is set to become a new focal point for supporters on matchdays and beyond.

The name takes inspiration from the River Medlock, which runs beneath the site – connecting the development to the area’s heritage and its continued regeneration.

The river also appears in the Manchester City club badge and has a long-standing, deep connection to the club.

Manchester City Football Club, also known as Man City, is a professional football club based in Manchester, England (UK) that competes in the Premier League, the top-flight of English football.

The City of Manchester Stadium, currently known as the Etihad Stadium for sponsorship reasons, and commonly shortened as The Etihad, is the home of the Premier League club Manchester City F.C. with a domestic football capacity of 53,600 making it the seventh-largest football stadium in England and the 11th-largest in the United Kingdom.

City said that at the heart of Medlock Square is the Etihad Stadium North Stand expansion, a major development that will increase the stadium’s capacity following the introduction of 7,000 new seats, as well as new premium bar and hospitality experiences to cater for the varying needs of fans.

At least 3,000 of the additional capacity will be allocated to rail seating.

An all-new, immersive and interactive Museum Experience will celebrate City’s past and present in exciting new ways, bringing fans even closer to the moments that define the club history.

A brand-new flagship City Store will form part of the development, giving fans an even bigger and better space to explore the latest kits and products.

A covered activation space with capacity for up to 3,000 people will create a dedicated hub for matchdays and Club events throughout the year – offering fans even more ways to come together before and after the match.

Fans will benefit from a wide range of food and drink options across Medlock Square, from quick coffee stops and casual dining to more premium experiences for those looking to extend their matchday experience at the Etihad.

This will be in addition to the local independent food vendors located outside the East and West Stands.

The newly launched Medlock Hotel will also provide fans with the opportunity to stay right at the heart of the Campus, including rooms overlooking the pitch – keeping fans closer than ever to the action.

And for those looking to see the Etihad from a completely new perspective, an adrenaline-fuelled roof walk experience, alongside abseiling and zipwires, will offer the chance to step onto the top of the stadium itself – delivering views across Manchester and an unforgettable way to experience the home of the Blues.

Mancunians, event-goers and families will be able to come together and enjoy world-class entertainment, mouth-watering eateries and immersive experiences and events.

Medlock Square will build on the area’s existing heritage of delivering large-scale sport and music spectacles even further, by creating a place that can play host to an ever-changing calendar of events, arts and culture.
