The Spanish football team Marbella FC has given the green light for the construction of its new home stadium, a state-of-the-art facility with a capacity to pack in 10,000 spectators that will become a sporting and leisure landmark and will be built on the site on which the present home of the Marbella FC stands – the Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas Stadium in Marbella, Spain.

‘EuroWeekly NEWS’ stated that recently the Mayor of Marbella María Ángeles Muñoz launched the new Marbella stadium project at the Palacio de Congresos de Marbella marking a historic moment for the City. The event symbolized the laying of the first brick and a decision was taken to demolish the old Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas Stadium.

The Marbella FC is a Spanish football team based in Marbella, the autonomous community of Andalusia (Spain). Founded in 1997 it currently plays in the Primera Federación – Group 2, the third tier of the Spanish football league system.

The 7,300-capacity Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas Stadium is a stadium in Marbella, Spain. It is primarily used for football and serves as the home pitch of the Spanish football team Marbella FC.

The 1,520-capacity Palacio de Congresos de Marbella, also known as the Marbella Trade Fair and Conference Centre, is a modern venue in Marbella, Spain, designed for hosting various events like the congresses, the conventions, product launches, the exhibitions, and the trade fairs. It boasts a large exhibition hall, meeting rooms, an auditorium, and other facilities all within a 10,000 square meter space.

‘EuroWeekly NEWS’ further stated that the plans involve clearing the site of the existing stadium and constructing a state-of-the-art facility which will be the epicenter of sports on the Costa del Sol (Region in Spain). The project, with an initial investment of €114 million, is Marbella’s largest of its kind and aims to drive economic and social growth over a 75-year business development plan.

Maintained Mayor Muñoz, “It is a historic day for our City Marbella which will soon boast a world-class sporting facility providing enriching experience to the fans. It will be more than a football stadium and will generate around 2,000 jobs. The venue will boasts restaurants, shopping centers and will be a family-friendly stadium and a place where the young crowd can let their hair down. We will convert it into a sporting hub for all of Costa del Sol and attract major international acts.”

Scheduled to be completed by the 2026-2027 seasons the new stadium will be able to pack in 10,000 spectators and will feature a natural grass pitch, avant-garde facilities meeting national and international standards, 1,200 underground parking spaces, and commercial areas.

The venue will be high on the sustainability quotient and will boast solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems.

The venue project aims to transform Marbella into a vibrant hub for sports, leisure and community engagement.
