The Max-Morlock-Stadium in Nuremberg, Germany, will retain its current name until the end of 2026.

‘MAX MORLOCK STADION’ stated that the above has been made possible due to a sponsorship deal struck between Stadion Nürnberg Betriebs-GmbH and the information technology (IT) service provider firm DATEV. The partnership is initially being planned for two years and was announced at a presser held at the Max-Morlock Stadium on July 2nd.

The 50,000-capacity Max-Morlock-Stadium is a stadium in Nuremberg, Germany, which opened in the year 1928. It is located next to the Zeppelinfeld (Nazi Party rally grounds). It also neighbors the 9,400-capacity Nuremberg Arena. Since 1966, it has served as the home stadium of the German 2. Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg. During the 1972 Summer Olympics, the venue hosted six football matches.

The 1. FC Nürnberg is a German sports club based in Nuremberg, Bavaria (Germany). It is best known for its men’s football team who currently compete in the 2. Bundesliga (the second division of professional football in Germany). The Max-Morlock-Stadium serves as their home pitch.

The DATEV eG is the third largest provider of business software in Germany and one of the largest European IT service providers. Founded in 1966, it has over 40,000 members. In the 2023 financial year, it achieved sales of 1.44 billion euros. The Nuremberg (Germany)-based company provides the basis for digital collaboration between the medium-sized companies and the tax consultants who take care of the business matters of the companies. Through this community, the DATEV supports a total of 2.8 million companies, self-employed people, municipalities, and the associations and institutions.

‘MAX MORLOCK STADION’ further stated that as part of the sponsorship deal the Nuremberg IT service provider will use the Max-Morlock-Stadium to hold its various corporate events.

Commented Christian Vogel, Mayor of Nuremberg, who is also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Stadion Nürnberg Betriebs-GmbH, “I am aware that the stadium name holds great significance for the people of the region. I am thrilled that now we have a renowned company DATEV as a partner. The partnership with DATEV and the stadium being able to retain its name for the next three years augurs well for the region as well as for the Max-Morlock-Stadium.”

Added Dr. Markus Algner, Member of the Management Board of DATEV eG, “We have been using the Max-Morlock-Stadium for a long time to hold our various corporate events. We want to further boost our ties and the above partnership paves the way for the same. Since we are a Nuremberg-based company it is our responsibility to ensure that the current name of the stadium is retained as the name holds huge sentimental value for the community on which the stadium sits.”

Concluded Sven Michel, Head of Sales and Marketing at Stadion Nürnberg Betriebs-GmbH, “The main three pillars of our partnership with DATEV eG are trust, transparency and mutual cooperation. I would like to thank everyone who made the above deal possible. It was always our objective from the beginning to ensure that the Max-Morlock-Stadium is able to retain its name. In DATEV we have found a perfect partner who aligns with our values and also demonstrates that the Nuremberg Stadium is ideal for holding business meets. We are very much looking forward to working with DATEV.”
