A new 35,000-seat New Aloha Stadium Entertainment District (NASED) is a high priority public infrastructure project for Hawaii in US. It is being designed by Crawford Architects.

Earlier this year, Governor David Ige signed into law a bill that set rolling the whole process of revamping the 44-year-old Aloha Stadium into a mixed-use sports and entertainment district.

It is being developed as a multifunctional space and will transform the stadium and the areas within its vicinity into a vibrant sports and entertainment district and will be anchored by the stadium, hotel, retail, and office and residential. WT Partnership and other partners comprise the public-private partnership (P3) team.

“We are proud of our association with the NASED project and bringing our world-class expertise in planning and urban design,” said Stacey Jones, Crawford Architects Owner and Senior Principal. Presently, the team is working on the Environmental Impact Statement that will be complete in 2020. The Environmental Impact Statement is mandatory by law. The new facility is scheduled to be ready by Fall 2023.

Aloha Stadium first opened its doors to the public in 1975 in suburban Honolulu as the home of the university’s football team. The State Legislature gave assent to spending $350 million for construction of the new venue in the ‘P3’ format involving public and private partnerships.

Plans for 98 acres of retail and office space, hotels, and housing is also in the offing.
