The project will be implemented in two phases. Phase 1 involves the reconstruction and modernization of the Vagharshapat Football Academy, expected to be completed by 2030.

Phase 2 will see the construction of a 15,000-seat stadium, along with additional leisure and infrastructure facilities.

The club currently plays at the Vahagn Tumasyan Stadium, an all-seater football stadium in Abovyan, Armenia.

The stadium was opened in 1966 and currently holds a capacity of 3,100 seats. Major renovation works were carried out in 2021-22.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that his administration is also committed to developing a national stadium and other related infrastructure in the

Academic City, which will be capable of hosting international tournaments.

The government is also working on the development of another UEFA Category 4 stadium in Vanadzor.

The sports complex in Vagharshapat will include a hotel, a school, a gym, a dormitory, a football academy, training grounds and more.
