The O2 Arena Prague will continue to hold the name of the telecoms giant after venue owner Bestsport extended their partnership for another five years.

The O2 Arena Prague said both the O2 Arena and O2 Universum will carry on under the name of the largest operator in the Czech Republic.

The 20,000 capacity O2 Arena is a multi-purpose arena, in Prague, Czech Republic. It is home to HC Sparta Prague of the Czech Extraliga and is the third-largest ice hockey arena in Europe.

Robert Schaffer, director of Bestsport, which owns both halls, said, “O2 arena has been named after the largest mobile operator in the Czech Republic for the sixteenth year, and I am very pleased that it will remain so until at least 2029.

“Our long-term goal is to bring the most interesting program possible, which will attract the largest possible number of visitors every year.

“I see O2’s interest in continuing the cooperation as proof that we are succeeding in achieving this goal, and at the same time as a great commitment to continue maintaining this cooperation at a mutually beneficial level.”

The conclusion of the contract does not only affect the name of the hall. There will be benefits for visitors, especially for O2 customers.

These will include priority ticket purchase, faster entrance to the venue or the possibility of reserving parking.

As an entertainment and sports center, the O2 arena and O2 Universum host approximately 160 events every year. From concerts by world-famous artists to entertaining stand-up shows, to major sporting events.

Hany Farghali, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR at O2, said, “We will gradually bring our customers a number of unique innovations that will make them feel exceptional. We are already expanding the option of priority ticket purchase in the Moje O2 application, where in the future we will also launch priority reservation of parking spaces or upgrade tickets to the club floor.

“We are also gradually introducing discounts on products and services in the vicinity of the O2 Arena, such as the 10% discount on overnight stays at STAGES HOTEL Prague, which is already active.

“Next year, we also plan to introduce a special “fast track”, thanks to which our customers will avoid queues when entering the hall. In short, they will receive benefits that they will not find elsewhere.”

In 2024, O2, in cooperation with CETIN, carried out a complete replacement of mobile technology in the O2 Arena.

Thanks to the enhanced speed and capacity of the mobile network, this hall is now undoubtedly the best-covered sports venue in the Czech Republic.

Since May, 20 new technological “nests” have been operating at the venue, which, with the help of 70 antennas, ensure top-notch mobile and data traffic.
