The Palau Blaugrana (arena in Barcelona, Spain) is ready after the work carried out to bring the venue up to speed as part of the initiatives for its 50th anniversary (the arena opened in 1971). The work has focused on the improvement to the interior of the pavilion for visitors, members and fans.

‘FC Barcelona’ stated that the catering facilities have been upgraded, a new VIP room has been created with sweeping views of the court as well as improvisations done to some of the most visible parts of the Palau. Another new element is the creation of two sales points for BLM (Barça Licencing and Merchandising) products on the lateral stand and another in the main stand.

The Palau Blaugrana is an arena in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, belonging to the LaLiga club FC Barcelona. The 7,585 seating capacity arena is home to the basketball, handball, roller hockey, and futsal divisions of FC Barcelona. The Palau Blaugrana is located between the 15,276-capacity Mini Estadi (home ground of the reserve team of FC Barcelona) and the Spotify Camp Nou.

Futbol Club Barcelona, commonly referred to as Barcelona and colloquially known as Barça, is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in LaLiga, the top flight of Spanish football.

The 99,354-capacity Camp Nou, officially branded as Spotify Camp Nou for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium in Barcelona, Spain. It has been the home stadium of FC Barcelona since its completion in 1957.

The Espai Barça development plan goes well beyond modernization and reconstruction of FC Barcelona’s home venue Spotify Camp Nou. In addition to increasing the capacity of the current stadium to 105,000 from circa 99,000 and completely revamping the current structure of Spotify Camp Nou, the Espai Barça project entails building a new Palau Blaugrana with a capacity of 15,000, an additional court with a capacity of 2,000, an ice rink, a new social area, a new commercial area, revamped club offices, La Masía (read FC Barcelona’s youth academy), and an additional 5,000 parking spots. This ambitious initiative has been in work for several years and is scheduled to be ready for the 2024-2025 seasons. In April 2014, Espai Barça was approved by the club’s members with a budget of $700 million.

The Palau Blaugrana looks as good as new on the inside with some of the most used space being given Blaugrana (Barcelona traditionally play in dark shades of blue and garnet stripes, hence nicknamed Blaugrana) brush-up to allow the fans to feel even more of the magic of the Palau.

The catering areas have been upgraded, most notably the bar in the lateral stand, at the ice ring and in the A and B main stands on the first floor, at each end and the visiting fans’ section. The recycling points have been improved all over the facility to promote use and raise awareness of the issue and its importance to visitors.

Last season, the scoreboard was updated, the lighting was replaced as was the public address (PA) system to improve the all-round experience for the visitors.

Barça Ambience

‘FC Barcelona’ further stated that the Barça colors are visible on all the walls that surround the stands where message such as ‘Visca Barça’ (‘Long Live Barcelona’), ‘Culer’ (Barça fans) and ‘Blaugrana’ are displayed all over. As regards the lighting at the Palau, it has also been updated thanks to the LED lamps installed on the court and the LED screens for advertising purposes in the second tier which will now be visible during the games. In the coming weeks, the ambient light in the dome will be enhanced.
