Qatar’s sixth venue for FIFA showcase ready

Amir Cup Final to be played at Al Thumama Stadium Image: Qatar 2022

The 49th Amir Cup Final will be played at the 40,000-capacity Al Thumama Stadium on October 22nd, 2021 marking the completion of Qatar’s 6th FIFA World Cup 2022™ ready venue after the 48,000-capacity Khalifa International, the 40,000-capacity Al Janoub, the 45,350-capacity Education City, the 21,282-capacity Ahmad Bin Ali and the 60,000-capacity Al Bayt stadia.

‘Qatar 2022’ stated that Al Sadd and Al Rayyan will contest the Amir Cup Final at the newly completed 40,000-seat Al Thumama Stadium. Details regarding ticket sales and stadium fan capacity will be released in due course.

The Al Thumama Stadium is a football stadium presently under construction in Al Thumama, Qatar. It will be a venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ in Qatar.

The Al Sadd Sports Club is a Qatari sports club based in the Al Sadd district of the City of Doha. It is best known for its association football team, which competes in the top level of Qatari football, the Qatar Stars League. Locally, it is known primarily by the nickname ‘Al Zaeem’, which translates to ‘The Boss’.

The Al-Rayyan Sports Club is a Qatari multisports club fielding teams in a number of sports such as football, futsal, basketball, volleyball, handball, athletics, table tennis and swimming. The club was founded in 1967 after merging the old Rayyan team with Nusoor Club. The official team colors are red and black.

‘Qatar 2022’ further stated that the Al Thumama Stadium was designed by the renowned Qatari architect Ibrahim M Jaidah and will host matches up to and including the quarter final at the FIFA World Cup 2022™. The stadium will also host matches up to and including the semi final at this year’s FIFA Arab Cup 2021™.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup™ is scheduled to be the 22nd running of the FIFA World Cup competition, the quadrennial international men’s football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from November 21st to December 18th, 2022.
