The David Crisafulli (Premier of Queensland) Government recently announced that the Queensland Country Bank will remain the naming rights holder of the North Queensland Stadium in Railway Estate, Australia, after renewing its sponsorship and securing a decade-long partnership with the Stadiums Queensland.

‘Queensland Government’ stated that since its opening in 2020 the 25,455-seat stadium has hosted around 1.25 million fans across 86 major events and more than 700 community events.

Aitkenvale (Australia)-based the Queensland Country Bank is a member-owned bank in Queensland, Australia that offers banking and insurance services. The bank was founded in 1971 as the Isa Mine Employees’ Credit Union Limited.

The 25,455-capacity North Queensland Stadium, currently known as the Queensland Country Bank Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a Rugby League stadium located in Railway Estate, a suburb of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It is the home ground of the North Queensland Cowboys of the National Rugby League (NRL) competition.

The North Queensland Cowboys is an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Townsville, the largest City in North Queensland (Australia). They compete in Australia’s premier rugby league competition the National Rugby League (NRL).

Sydney (Australia)-based the National Rugby League (NRL) is a professional rugby league competition in Australasia which contains clubs from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, and New Zealand.

Brisbane (Australia)-based the Stadiums Queensland is a statutory body that manages, operates and promotes Queensland’s major sports and entertainment facilities. It was established in 2001. The Stadiums Queensland is in charge of managing, operating and promoting the use of major public facilities for the staging of community, elite sporting and entertainment events. Its nine major sport and entertainment venues host more than four million patrons each year.

‘Queensland Government’ further stated that over the past five years the catering staff has served 150,715 cups of chips and 720,985 soft drinks to fans watching some of the biggest events in Australia.

With even more major international events on the horizon – including the Rugby World Cup (to be held in Australia from October 1st-November 13th, 2027) and Brisbane 2032 – the stadium is poised to play a pivotal role in showcasing the region to the world and injecting millions into the local economy.

The Men’s Rugby World Cup is a rugby union tournament contested every four years between the top international teams the winners of which are recognized as the world champions of the sport. The tournament is administered by World Rugby, the sport’s international governing body.

Dublin (Ireland)-based the World Rugby is the governing body for the sport of rugby union. The World Rugby organizes the Rugby World Cup every four years – the sport’s most recognized and most profitable competition.

The 2032 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXV Olympiad and also known as Brisbane 2032 or the abbreviation Bris2032, is an upcoming international multisport event scheduled to take place from July 23rd-August 8th, 2032 with Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, as the main Host City.

The Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the stadium had positioned Townsville (City in Australia) as a major sports and events destination.

Maintained Mander, “There’s no doubt that this is one of the best regional venues in Australia. North Queensland has been through a tough time but the extension of the naming rights is not only a testament to the success of the venue but a great signal of confidence in the region. The Queensland Country Bank Stadium has been instrumental in boosting Townsville’s economy and tourism and the incredible response to the P!nk (American singer-songwriter) concerts last year is a prime example. From the Cowboys to the State of Origin, the Matildas (Australia’s women’s national soccer team), international football, rugby union, and some of the biggest names in music, this venue continues to deliver world-class experiences.”

The Queensland Country Bank head honcho Aaron Newman said the partnership with the stadium had been a huge success – “Our partnership with the Stadiums Queensland has exceeded all expectations and we are thrilled that with the support of the State Government the Queensland Country Bank Stadium has been highly successful in attracting major headline events which have made a significant social and economic contribution to the region. There is no doubt that the Queensland Country Bank Stadium has generated significant exposure for our brand that has contributed to our accelerated growth as a bank of choice for the Queenslanders but what we’re most proud of is the opportunities the stadium has created for regional Queensland.”

Added Newman, “The Stadium Queensland’s ongoing commitment to providing a world-class venue for the benefit of the region aligns with our vision as a member-owned bank to support the regional Queenslanders and we’re delighted to continue to play a role in the growth of North Queensland.”

The Queensland Country Bank Stadium General Manager Cameron Jones said he was excited to see what the next five years entailed – “We’ve got a strong lineup this year with the Cowboys, the Wallabies (the national rugby union team of Australia), the Nitro Circus (action sport collective), and the Rugby World Cup and I expect us to go from strength to strength off the back of support for the recent events.”
