The World Wresting Entertainment (WWE), in partnership with the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), on behalf of HE Turki Alalshikh, Chairman, GEA, announced recently that the 39th annual Royal Rumble will be held in January 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

‘wwe.com’ stated that this landmark event marks the first time the Royal Rumble will be hosted outside of North America.

Stamford (US)-based the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is an American professional wrestling promotion. It is owned and operated by the TKO Group Holdings (sports and entertainment company), a majority-owned subsidiary of the Endeavor Group Holdings.

The Endeavor Group Holdings, Inc. is an American holding company for talent and media agencies with its primary offices in Beverly Hills, California. The Endeavor is majority Owner of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC – an American mixed martial arts promotion company) through the TKO Group.

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)-based the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), formerly the General Authority for Entertainment (GAE), is a Government Department in Saudi Arabia that regulates the entertainment industry of the country. Established in May 2016 through a Royal decree by King Salman it is responsible for the development, advancement and expansion of Saudi Arabia’s growing entertainment sector.

‘wwe.com’ further stated that the Royal Rumble is an annual WWE Premium Live Event that includes both a men’s and women’s match with the winners eliminating all the opponents and securing a Championship opportunity at WrestleMania.

The WrestleMania is a professional wrestling event held annually between mid-March and mid-April by the American company WWE, the world’s largest professional wrestling promotion.

In a statement, HE Turki Alalshikh said, “Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the Royal Rumble for the first time outside North America reflects the General Entertainment Authority’s ongoing commitment to bringing the world’s largest and most important entertainment events to the Kingdom. Through this partnership with the WWE we aim to enhance the entertainment sector and deliver a transformative experience that attracts a wide audience. We are excited to see this historic event as part of Riyadh Season’s activities and look forward to providing an exceptional experience for the wrestling fans from around the world whom we welcome to all events hosted in Saudi Arabia.”

Noted Nick Khan, WWE President, “The WWE is a global enterprise and it only made sense to expand our relationship with the Kingdom by bringing one of our biggest annual events to Riyadh in January of 2026.”

The announcement of the Royal Rumble being held in Riyadh in 2026 marks a continued expansion to the successful partnership between the WWE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which has already seen record-breaking events including the Crown Jewel (a yearly professional wrestling event held by the WWE in Saudi Arabia), the Elimination Chamber (a professional wrestling elimination-based match), the King & Queen of the Ring (a professional wrestling event), the Night of Champions (a professional wrestling pay-per-view [PPV] and livestreaming event), SmackDown (an American professional wrestling television program), and the Monday Night RAW (an American professional wrestling television program).
