English rugby union club Sale Sharks have renamed the Salford Community Stadium as the CorpAcq Stadium as the Gallagher Prem season gets into full swing.

The BBC said Altrincham-based business compounder CorpAcq was Sale’s shirt sponsor between 2019 and 2021 and has been a long-term supporter of the Sharks academy.

The new partnership will see the CorpAcq brand displayed on the front of the West Stand as well as in key locations inside the stadium bowl.

The CorpAcq navy and white logo will appear on the roof of the North Stand, visible from Barton Bridge on the M60 motorway.

The deal will mean that Sharks’ former home, Heywood Road, will no longer showcase the CorpAcq brand and Sale FC will be announcing a new stadium naming partner in the coming days.

The 12,000-capacity Salford Community Stadium is a rugby stadium in Barton-upon-Irwell, England (UK) and serves as the home of the Salford Red Devils rugby league club and the Sale Sharks rugby union club.

The Sale Sharks are a professional rugby union club from Greater Manchester, England (UK). They play in Premiership Rugby and have been in England’s top division of rugby union system continuously since 1995.

Sale Sharks Chief Executive Paul Smith said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome CorpAcq to the Sharks Family as our official stadium naming partner in what is a highly significant partnership for the club.

“We’ve enjoyed a long-standing relationship with CorpAcq and we’re excited to take that to the next level. CorpAcq’s commitment to supporting Sharks for the long term is clear, and together we hope to create opportunities for growth on and off the pitch.

“As one of the North West’s fastest-growing businesses, CorpAcq is deeply rooted in the region and that aligns perfectly with our values as a club.

“With CorpAcq’s backing, we want to build on recent success, deliver an even better matchday experience, and continue to grow rugby union across the North West.”

Founded in 2006, CorpAcq is one of the fastest growing businesses in North West England and hit the headlines earlier this year when it was acquired by leading private equity firm TDR Capital LLP. CorpAcq’s portfolio includes over 50 companies with combined revenues of over £900 million.

CorpAcq CEO David Martin said: “As a business, we’ve supported Sale Sharks for many years, and we’re delighted to extend that relationship as the club’s official Stadium Naming Partner.

“The Sharks are more than our local PREM Rugby team, they represent values that matter to us as a business: resilience, teamwork and excellence. This partnership reflects our commitment to championing a high-performance culture – both on the pitch and off it in the business world – and we are all excited about the journey ahead.”

Sale have shared a stadium with rugby league outfit Salford Red Devils since 2012 after moving out of Stockport County’s home ground Edgeley Park.

Investment platform AJ Bell had sponsored the stadium for a decade before it was renamed the Salford Community Stadium in 2023.
