New renderings have been unbolted for the Jeddah Central Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

A ‘LinkedIn Post By Khaled AlOjyan, Royal Commission for Riyadh City’, stated, “In a groundbreaking announcement at the close of 2021, the Jeddah Central Project unveiled ambitious plans to reshape the urban landscape of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s second-largest City. With a staggering budget of 75 billion Saudi riyals (equivalent to $20 billion), this visionary undertaking is spearheaded by the Jeddah Central Development Company, a subsidiary of the State bank.”

It will have six districts, named Central, Marina, Beach, Sports Park, Cultural and Creativity, and Wellness.

The stadium will have a capacity of 45,000 spectators, will comply with FIFA standards and will feature a state-of-the-art pitch. The stadium’s architecture will combine traditional style with modern technology, and will include air-conditioning, kinetic elements on the roof and distinctive gardens and open green spaces.

The Jeddah Central Project is an ambitious development designed to make Jeddah a world-class destination and strengthen the City’s economy.

Launched in 2021 by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Jeddah Central Project is designed to preserve Jeddah’s rich heritage while embracing modernity. Featuring four notable landmarks (Opera House, Museum, Sports Stadium, and Oceanarium), a marina, beach resorts, restaurants, cafes, diverse shopping options, and modern residential areas, the project will develop 5.7 million square meters in the heart of Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). The plan reflects the Hijazi essence of Jeddah in a contemporary interpretation and has adopted world-class sustainability standards.

The ‘LinkedIn Post By Khaled AlOjyan, Royal Commission for Riyadh City’, further stated, “One of the standout features of this grand venture is the FIFA standard football stadium, destined to become a central focal point within the Jeddah Central Project. This transformative journey commenced in 2022 with the demolition phase, marking the end of the 24,000-capacity Air Defence Stadium and paving the way for the construction of the futuristic Central Jeddah Stadium – a pivotal stride in the overarching development of the project. The significant progress reached a milestone on July 18th, 2022, with the formalization of contracts between the Jeddah Central Development Company (JCDC) and the esteemed architectural consultancy, GMP International, and the multidisciplinary planning and engineering consultant, Khatib & Alami. The GMP International, boasting over 50 years of architectural expertise, will spearhead the design, while Khatib & Alami will lend their proficiency to the technical facets of the project. Emphasizing the collaborative significance, Engineer Ahmed Al Sulaim, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JCDC, underscored how this partnership aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030, placing emphasis on investment for socio-economic development, particularly within the sports sector.”
