The Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion team Charlotte FC are planning to start soccer-specific renovations at the Bank of America Stadium (US) in March 2021.

The ‘MLS’ stated that repurposing work reportedly include an update to the facility’s East end, where the supporters’ section will sit, a new players’ tunnel and new suites for players and staff. Eight new broadcast positions are being added for soccer-specific angles, and the plans include expanding the surrounding plaza.

Charlotte Football Club is a planned Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion team that is expected to begin play in 2022. The club will play at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina (US). The team is owned by David Tepper, who was awarded the expansion franchise on December 17th, 2019.

The Bank of America Stadium is a 75,523-seat football stadium located on 33 acres (13 ha) in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. It is the home facility and headquarters of the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL), and is planned to be the home of Charlotte FC of Major League Soccer (MLS).

The Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men’s professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport’s highest level in the United States and Canada. The league comprises 27 teams – 24 in the US and 3 in Canada – and will expand to 30 teams by the 2023 season.

The ‘MLS’ further stated that the price tag of the refurbishment work will come to reportedly $50 million and will continue during the Carolina Panthers’ 2021 NFL season. The updates are expected to conclude by the time Charlotte FC enter MLS, though.

Charlotte FC is scheduled to begin play in 2022.
