Coliseum Online Week US 2020 press release - October 14, 2020 Image: MJR Group Ltd./Coliseum

Coliseum’s strong suit is its international symposiums which it holds every year and it takes great pride in holding these pathbreaking conferences.

However, the cataclysmic effect of COVID-19 globally has had severe impact on the sports venue sector and virtual conferences have become the trend. The pandemic has also left ‘Coliseum’ with no other option but to hold the US conference in the online format.

After the first appearance of ‘Coliseum’ in the US in 2015, this year the same will be held in the virtual mode – Coliseum Online Week US Worldwide – from October 19th – 23rd, 2020.

This year being all about the disastrous consequences of COVID-19 does not mean that ‘Coliseum Online Week US’ will focus solely on this topic. Several other issues faced by the sports venue sector will be discussed for which the conference structure has been kept with 11 different segments and there is an impressive line-up of Speakers.

An event moderator is the master of ceremony of the event – and is largely responsible for the success of the same. They act as the glue that keeps the event together and also keep the audience engaged.

The high-profile speakers will be complemented by the moderators for each segment – all industry veterans and cognoscentes on the sports venue sector.

The Moderators to do the honours in the ‘Coliseum Online Week’ – Chris DeVolder, Managing Principal, HOK, US (Conference stream: Venue DESIGN), David M. Campbell, P.E., President, Geiger Engineers, US (Conference stream: Venue CONSTRUCTION), Ted Glick, Senior Director, Sales and Service, Sacramento Republic FC, US (Conference stream: Venue BUSINESS), Angela Ruggiero, CEO and Co-Founder, Sports Innovation Lab, Boston, US (Conference stream: Venue TECHNOLOGY), Scott Jenkins, Board Chair, Green Sports Alliance, US (Conference stream: GREEN Venue), Lee Zeidman, President, STAPLES Center, US (Conference stream: Venue OPERATIONS), Rob Hunden, President, Hunden Strategic Partners, US (Conference stream: Venue VIP), Bernie Mullin, Chairman and Founder, The Aspire Group Inc., US (Conference stream: Venue EXPERIENCE), Ryan Gedney, National Design Director, HNTB, US (Conference stream: Venue DESTINATION).

The calamitous fallout of the pandemic will be one of the topics to be discussed in the online session due to which one of the conference segments has been adjusted to HEALTH, SAFETY & SECURITY.

However, the primary objective of the ‘Coliseum Summits’ remain the same – to provide a platform to the sports venue sector virtuosos to discuss among themselves the challenges they are facing and what are the lessons learned.

This year though COVID-19 has overshadowed everything else but that does not mean that ‘Coliseum Online Week US’ will focus solely on this issue. Several other issues faced by the sports venue sector will come up for deliberations for which the conference structure has been kept with 11 different segments.

Coliseum’ hopes that the coronavirus storm will soon be over and it can return to Los Angeles, United States, next year by August end or beginning of September for the in-person version of the conference.
