The former home of the Major League Baseball (MLB) team Texas Rangers (US), Globe Life Park, has a new name: Choctaw Stadium.

The ‘Fort Worth Star-Telegram’ stated that the naming rights agreement between the Texas Rangers and Choctaw Casinos & Resorts was announced on August 25th.

The Texas Rangers are an American professional baseball team based in the Dallas metropolitan area. The Texas Rangers competes in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League West division.

The 48,114-capacity Choctaw Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Arlington, Texas (US), located between Dallas and Fort Worth. It serves as the home venue of the Texas Rangers.

The ‘Fort Worth Star-Telegram’ further stated that in May 2019, Choctaw Casinos & Resorts extended its relationship with the Texas Rangers, established in 2010, becoming the official casino and resort of the baseball team. Following the Rangers’ 2019 season, the Choctaw Stadium was reconfigured to a multipurpose facility.

The XFL pro football, United Soccer League (USL) League One pro soccer and Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) high school football games have been played at the stadium. This year it will host pro soccer and high school football and the stadium will be home to the Major League Rugby (MLR) team Dallas Jackals in 2022.

The Chief of the Choctaw Nation, Gary Batton, said in a statement that Choctaw Casinos & Resorts is excited to expand its relationship with the Texas Rangers and be part of a stadium that holds great significance for the North Texans.

Added Batton, “We are proud to have our name on a field that continues to play an important role in the lives of the North Texans and we look forward to sharing in the competition and enjoyment the stadium brings to the community.”

The XFL is a professional American football league. Consisting of eight teams divided equally between an East and West division, seasons run from February to April, with each team playing a 10-game regular season, and four progressing to the playoffs to crown a season champion.

The USL League One (USL1) is a professional men’s soccer league in the United States and Canada that began its inaugural season in 2019. The league is targeting Cities with a population of 150,000 to one million, mostly in Cities currently without a professional team.

The University Interscholastic League is an organization that creates rules for and administers almost all athletic, musical and academic contests for public primary and secondary schools in the US State of Texas. It is the largest organization of its type in the world.
