The renderings have been released for the Nordecke supporters’ section of the New Downtown Stadium in Columbus, US.

The New Columbus Crew Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium under construction in Columbus, Ohio, United States. It will primarily serve as the new home stadium of the Columbus Crew SC of Major League Soccer (MLS), replacing the club’s current home, Mapfre Stadium.

The new stadium will cost $300 million and will sit at the center of the Confluence Village neighborhood, a mixed-use development with residential and commercial buildings. It will seat 20,000 spectators and include 30 suites and 1,900 club seats.

For the second episode of the Crew’s Virtual Townhall Series, National Sports Practice Leader/Vice-President at HNTB, Gerardo Prado, joined members of the club’s front office to discuss the newly released renderings of the Nordecke supporters’ section for the New Downtown Stadium.

The North stand at the Columbus Crew SC’s New Downtown Stadium, which is set to open in the summer of 2021, will consist of the new Nordecke supporters’ section, which will be the second-largest in MLS. The new section has taken a page out of the current location of the Nordecke.

The section will boast an integrated tifo rigging system, capo stands, two patio decks, and the Nordecke Beer Garden – the first beer garden specifically for a supporters’ section in MLS.

Extending from touchline to touchline, the Nordecke will enjoy 3,356 safe-standing seats all of which will be covered by a canopy. In fact, all seats will be covered by a canopy that will extend to the first row, amplifying noise and directing it back to the pitch, and the canopy will help display tifos as large as 300 feet long. One of the stadium’s entrances will be located in close proximity to the Nordecke supporters’ section.

The adjoining beer garden will be 5,600 square feet, making it the largest beer garden for an MLS stadium. Located close to the supporters’ concourse and Nordecke section, the beer garden will be approximately 80 steps away from the section’s entrance.

The stadium will feature a full 360-degree canopy covering all fans. The capacity of the Nordecke supporters’ stand in the North end will stand at 3,400 with all safe-standing seating along with two standing room-only elevated terraces will provide a vibrant atmosphere on game day.

There is an exclusive entrance on the West side of the facility for all premium club members. A brew hall anchors the Southeast corner of the stadium. Among the plush amenities, the 6,000 sq foot East Field Club suite enjoys a private full-service bar and gourmet catering options.

The stadium sits on the Western terminus of Nationwide Boulevard anchoring the Confluence Village development near the Scioto and Olengtangy Rivers.

The ‘Crewhouse’ is located on the Southeast side of the stadium. The West Field Club is considered one of the most exclusive spaces in the stadium, supporters will get an up-close look as the players walk up to the pitch. The stadium promises to provide fans a fully immersive experience.
