Allianz Arena Munich to check in with covid-pass Image: Allianz Arena

Bundesliga king FC Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena (Germany) has become the first in the world to boast the facility of fans self-checking their admission ticket along with their Digital COVID Certificate (Green Pass) directly at the turnstile.

The ‘FC Bayern Munich’ stated that a 3G certificate (for the fully vaccinated, recovered or fully tested individuals) is required for entry.

FC Bayern Munich is a German professional sports club based in Munich, Bavaria (Germany). It is best known for its professional football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system.

The Allianz Arena is a football stadium in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, with a 70,000 seating capacity for international matches and 75,000 for domestic matches. Widely known for its exterior of inflated Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) plastic panels, it is the first stadium in the world with a full color changing exterior.

The above initiative has been taken to make the venue secure for fans in a world riddled with coronavirus and its variants. And also to make access to the facility as seamless as possible by implementing the automated 3G check at all ingress points to the Allianz Arena.

The ‘FC Bayern Munich’ further stated that the modus operandi is such that fans must first present their admission ticket and then the relevant COVID certificate at the security check. Then, in addition to an admission ticket, digital 3G proof must also be scanned at the turnstiles via the QR code stored in the CovPass app or Corona-Warn-App. Spectators carrying only physical proof will receive a QR code from the stewards on-site.

In addition, a comprehensive hygiene policy will be in place at all home matches until further notice. This includes, among other things, the wearing of a face mask (FFP2 standard) by people aged 15 years and above throughout the entire stadium area, barring the seating area. In the interest of the health of all fans, the above regulations must be followed.

To make the above exercise possible, SKIDATA, the only provider worldwide to offer this service, extended its previously installed touchless access solution to add automated Green Pass scanning.

As a result, fans are once again free to applaud the goals, discuss the referee’s decisions and roar and chant for their favorite team in the company of friends and family.

Supporters will finally be able to enjoy a proper game of soccer again! And they can do so with the reassurance that everyone is vaccinated, recovered or tested and will have no worry lines on their foreheads.

Oliver Meßthaler, FC Bayern Munich Director, Ticketing Service, Security and Facility Management, exulted, “The Green Pass solution, which was developed in close cooperation between SKIDATA and FC Bayern München, worked exactly as it should. With the Green Pass solution, we are at the forefront! All other so called ‘solutions’ with the need of much staff for additional manually operated control are out of the question for us as they are not sustainable. We know we can rely on SKIDATA, especially when it comes to new, groundbreaking solutions.”

With their solution, SKIDATA has made it possible for operators of stadia, leisure parks, museums, and other event venues to safely admit fans and visitors – without the need for extra staff or an additional app.

The Green Pass solution integrates seamlessly into the SKIDATA access system. This way, the safety of visitors and venue is guaranteed, while the strictly General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliant processing of ticket and access data helps to prevent ticket fraud.

SKIDATA GmbH is an Austrian company which has installed more than 10,000 access systems for people and vehicles in: Ski resorts, shopping centers, major airports, Cities, sport stadiums, fairs, and amusement parks.
