‘TheDOME’ authorities submitted its application to the Fraport AG on February 15^th, 2021. ‘TheDOME’ is a planned multifunctional 23,000-capacity arena to come up in Germany.

Earlier, Canada’s Katz Group’s dream of building one of Europe’s largest multifunctional arenas next to one of the continent’s busiest airports in the German City of Frankfurt suffered a setback with Fraport AG extending its expression of interest survey deadline for building the arena from January 22^nd, 2021 to February 15^th, 2021.

TheDOME Besitz-Gesellschaft mbH sources stated that the ‘TheDOME’ authorities submitted the documents for the expression of interest procedure for the construction of a multifunctional arena on the premises of FRAPORT AG on Squaire to the Frankfurt airport operator.

Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide, commonly known as Fraport, is a German transport company which operates Frankfurt Airport in Frankfurt am Main and holds interests in the operation of several other airports around the world.

Together with ‘TheDOME’ holding company, the Katz Group, the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and CAA Icon for the contract will build a regional, national and international requirements hall.

The Löwen Frankfurt is a professional ice hockey team based in Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany. They currently play in the tier two DEL2. The club is the successor of the Frankfurt Lions, formed in 1991, which experienced its greatest success in 2004 when it won the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

The United Volleys Frankfurt is a men’s volleyball team from Frankfurt am Main that has played in the Bundesliga since 2015. Until 2018, the team played under the name United Volleys Rhein-Main.

‘TheDOME’ details

‘TheDOME’ will present the best entertainment, sports and special events have to offer. thedomefrankfurt.com sources stated that it is being planned to make it a 22,000-capacity arena – 18,612 general seats and 3,808 premium seats. The entire seating plan has been designed in such a manner so that fans can be in the middle of the action and can experience the stadium atmosphere in the real sense of the term. The maximum capacity of the venue has been set at 25,000.

Added attractions like premium restaurants, bars and a sky lounge overlooking the airport and the Frankfurt skyline will complete the fan experience. It will also boast a parking area where 2,400 cars can be parked.
