The construction work of the Roig Arena in Valencia, Spain, is well under way. The inauguration of the facility is scheduled for 2024.

A ‘LinkedIn post by Roig Arena’ stated that recently José Manuel Franco, President of the Superior Council of Sports, and Fernando Molinero Revert, General Manager of the Superior Council of Sports, accompanied by Enric Carbonell, General Manager of Valencia Basket Club, Juan Miguel Gómez Ruiz, Director of Trinidad Alfonso Foundation (Foundation in Valencia, Spain), and the General Manager of Roig Arena, Víctor Sendra Peretó, visited the Roig Arena, and took a first-hand grip of the construction work of the venue presently under way.

Víctor Sendra Peretó attended the Coliseum Summit Europe which was recently held at the Twickenham Stadium in Twickenham, England, UK.

The new home of the professional basketball team based in Valencia, Spain – the Valencia Basket – will be called the Roig Arena after the Spanish billionaire businessman Juan Roig who has picked up the tab of the project.

Licampa 1617, a company owned by Juan Roig, the Mercadona supermarket chain owner (Spanish supermarket chain), who also is the largest shareholder of Valencia Basket, has opted for the name ‘Roig Arena’ and not Casal España Arena, the future multipurpose venue which is being built in Valencia, Spain. The new name is an ode to Juan Roig and his family.

The Valencia Basket Club S.A.D., commonly known as the Valencia Basket, is a professional basketball team based in Valencia, Spain. The team plays in the Liga ACB (the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system) and the EuroLeague, with home games played at the Pavelló Municipal Font de Sant Lluís. The club is sponsored by the Spanish billionaire Juan Roig.

The Pavelló Municipal Font de Sant Lluís is an indoor arena that is located in Valencia, Spain. Built in 1983, it is primarily used for basketball games, and it is the home arena of the Spanish Liga ACB club Valencia Basket. The arena can accommodate 9,000 spectators.

The price tag of the Roig Arena, which has been pegged at more than 280 million euros, fully paid for by Juan Roig with his personal wealth, will host all types of events, internationally positioning Valencia and the Valencian Community.

The EuroLeague, known as the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague for sponsorship reasons, is a European professional basketball club competition. The league is widely recognized as the top-tier league in Europe.

‘The LinkedIn post by Roig Arena’ further stated – “It was a pleasure to share the Roig Arena project with professionals in the sector.”
