New entertainment district for downtown Tampa Image: Strategic Property Partners

Downtown Tampa is getting a major new entertainment district in the Water Street centered around a new 3,500-seat live music venue, alongside hotels, dining, and retail, with construction expected to start in 2027 by Strategic Property Partners.

A ‘LinkedIn Post’ stated, “Our Water Street Tampa neighborhood was designed to evolve and the next chapter is coming into focus. We’re excited to share plans for a transformative mixed-use entertainment district in downtown Tampa.”

The ‘LinkedIn Post’ further stated, “This privately-financed development will introduce a new 3,500-seat live music and performance venue thoughtfully integrated with a hotel, shopping, dining, and enhanced parking. Located directly North and across from the Benchmark International Arena, the district builds on the momentum surrounding one of Tampa’s most vibrant destinations”.

The planned development highlights include:

  • 3,500-seat music and performance venue
  • 250-key hotel with indoor and outdoor amenities
  • 100,000 SF of shopping, dining and entertainment
  • 1,000+ parking spaces to support accessibility

“SPP plans to partner with Vinik Sports Group to manage the music venue, expanding the exceptional events and experiences already defining the neighborhood.”

“Designed as an intimate, right-sized setting, the venue will attract more artists, more often, and give fans new ways to experience live performances within Tampa’s urban core.”

“As a natural extension of Water Street Tampa and Ford Thunder Alley, the district will strengthen connections to the Tampa Riverwalk, Convention Center, nearby neighborhoods, and hotels to create an all-day, walkable entertainment corridor for residents and visitors alike.”

With anticipated groundbreaking in 2027, this project continues the long-term vision for Water Street Tampa as a dynamic, evolving waterfront neighborhood.
