The next edition of the French Trophée des Champions will be played overseas for the second time in as many years, this time in in Kuwait.

Ligue 1 said the match, the 31st edition of the contest, will take place on January 8, 2026 and will pit Paris Saint-Germain against Olympique de Marseille.

Organized in collaboration with the Kuwait Football Association, the encounter will see Ligue 1 McDonald’s champions and French Cup winners PSG take on Ligue 1 McDonald’s runners-up Marseille at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City.

France’s biggest rivals will face off in the Trophée des Champions for the third time, following the 2010 and 2020 editions.

The Trophée des Champions is a French association football trophy contested in an annual match usually played between the champions of Ligue 1 and the winners of the Coupe de France.

Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, commonly referred to as the Paris Saint-Germain or simply PSG, is a French professional football club based in Paris (France). They compete in Ligue 1, the top division of French football.

With 52 major trophies won, PSG are the most decorated club in France and are generally considered the country’s biggest club and a leading force on the European stage.

The club plays at the 48,229-capacity Parc des Princes all-seater football stadium in Paris, France.

Olympique de Marseille, also known simply as Marseille, or by the abbreviation OM, is a French professional football club based in Marseille which competes in Ligue 1, the top flight of French football.

Reopened in 2015, the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium has a capacity of 58,000 and regularly hosts Kuwait’s national team matches.

After staging the Gulf Cup of Nations in 2017 and 2024, Kuwait will welcome the French Trophée des Champions for the very first time.

The match will be played in the evening in Kuwait City, with kick-off time still to be confirmed. In France, the Trophée des Champions will be broadcast live on Ligue 1+.

It will be the second consecutive edition of the Trophée des Champions to be played outside France after Qatar hosted last year’s match.

PSG has won the Trophée des Champions in each of the past three seasons, extending its record to 13 titles. Marseille has lifted the trophy three times, most recently in 2011.
