Construction of training facility at Alte Foersterei started Image: FC Union Berlin

Construction work on the Alte Försterei’s Training Centre in Berlin (Germany) will begin in August. It will serve as a training center for the Bundesliga team 1. FC Union Berlin and plans are in place to make it state-of-the-art.

‘fc-union-berlin.de’ stated that the new training center will sit between the Union Berlin home ground – the Stadion An der Alten Försterei and Hämmerlingstraße – and will boast the best training ambience for the players and the club as a whole.

The 1. FC Union Berlin is a professional German football club based in Berlin (Germany). It plays in the Bundesliga (the highest level of the German football league system).

The 22,012-capacity Stadion An der Alten Försterei is a football stadium in Köpenick (Germany) and the largest single-purpose football stadium in the German capital of Berlin. It serves as the home ground of the football club 1. FC Union Berlin.

‘fc-union-berlin.de’ further stated that the above training center will provide a level playing field to the professional players.

Averred Dirk Zingler, 1. FC Union Berlin President, “Our objective is to set up one professional department and two teams and this will be made possible through the new training center. Both the professional teams, Men and Women, will train here and will find all the amenities they need to play top-notch football. For us, this is another milestone that will help in the sustainable growth of our club.”

A parking area will come up next to the venue and a new training field with standard pitch dimensions will be constructed on the roof of the parking place. A sports hall will also come up as well as the training pitch will be constructed.

The construction of the Alte Försterei’s Training Centre will start in August and is expected to be completed by Winter.
