The share of the American investors in the Serie A team Cagliari Calcio (Italy) is increasing thus facilitating the top-flight’s new venue plans.

‘L’UNIONE SARDA.it’ stated that the chemical manufacturing company Fluorsid Group has completed the sale of a further 29 percent of the share capital to the group controlled by Maurizio Fiori and Prashant Gupta.

The Cagliari Calcio, commonly referred to as Cagliari, is a professional Italian football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia (Italy) that plays in Serie A, the first tier of Italian football. The club currently play their home matches at the 16,416-seat Unipol Domus.

The 16,412-capacity Unipol Domus is a football stadium in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. Built in 2017 as the Sardegna Arena it has served as the home ground of the Cagliari Calcio since the 2017-2018 seasons.

Milan (Italy)-based the Fluorsid Group is an Italian company active in the chemical industry and is precisely involved in the production and sales of inorganic fluorine derivatives.

‘L’UNIONE SARDA.it’ further stated that the new partners thus strengthen their position while remaining in the minority: They now hold 49 percent of the club’s share capital.

A statement from Cagliari Calcio read, “The transaction is part of the strategic growth and development path undertaken by the club and consolidates a partnership founded on a shared industrial vision. The collaboration is aimed at supporting the new stadium project and strengthening the Cagliari Calcio’s structure, capital and organization within a framework of full management continuity.”

Maurizio Fiori, born in 1972 in Carbonia (Commune of Italy), moved to the United States in 1990.

Stated Fiori in November after acquiring an initial minority stake in the ‘Rossoblù’ club, “For me it’s not just an investment but a privilege and a profoundly valuable responsibility. As a proud Sardinian this moment carries profound meaning. Cagliari embodies the resilience, passion and a sense of belonging that unites all the Sardinians on the island and around the world. I aim to contribute to the club’s growth and success both on and off the pitch.”
