Worcester Warriors and Junction 6 Limited stadium redevelopment Image: Sixways Stadium and Hadfield Cawkwell Davison Architects

The Junction 6 Limited, the new owners of the former professional rugby union club – the Worcester Warriors – is inviting the fans and the residents to explore their new proposals for the renewal of the Warriors residence – the Sixways Stadium – and the redevelopment of the surrounding area.

‘sixways’ stated that in November 2024, the Worcester Warriors formally submitted an application to the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to join the new Tier 2, the second division of English Rugby, during the 2025-2026 seasons.

The Junction 6 Limited is a consortium owned by Loxwood Holdings which is owned by Chris Holland. Holland is the sole Director of Junction 6.

Oxfordshire (UK)-based the Loxwood Holdings Limited brings together a number of specialist companies that all operate in the Strategic Risk Management and Security areas providing complete solutions for Personal and Physical Security. Although each company has specialist skills and operate independently, the architecture of risk is such that the companies support each other and are able to provide complimentary disciplines that allow for total integrated solutions from the design and build through to the application, procurement, installation, maintenance, and training.

The Worcester Warriors Rugby Football Club was a professional rugby union club founded in 1871 that played in the top division of the sport in England, the Premiership Rugby. In May 2023, it was announced that the Atlas Group had completed the purchase of the Worcester Warriors. The club was disbanded on February 9th, 2023.

The Atlas Group was a consortium that purchased the Worcester Warriors in May 2023 but has since entered insolvency.

The 12,067-capacity Sixways Stadium is a stadium in Worcester, England (UK). It is currently used for rugby union and association football matches. Prior to their administration and suspension from the Premiership Rugby it was also home of the Worcester Warriors.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is the national governing body for rugby union in England (UK). It was founded in 1871 and was the sport’s international governing body prior to the formation of what is now known as World Rugby (WR) in 1886. It promotes and runs the sport, organizes international matches for the England national team and educates and trains the players and the officials.

‘sixways’ further stated that as part of this exciting journey the Junction 6 Limited have collaborated with a team of industry leaders to produce plans that will enhance the Sixways Stadium for the fans and create new facilities for sport, entertainment, health and wellbeing around the stadium.

The Worcester Warriors submitted a planning application to the Wychavon District Council in December 2024 to redevelop the Sixways Stadium.

The club held a public consultation in December 2024 to gather feedback on the plans. The consultation included an in-person event at Sixways and an online survey.

The club’s goal is to create a sustainable future for the club and its supporters and to bring back professional rugby.

Key Highlights of the Proposals:

  • Redeveloping the North Stand, growing the stadium’s capacity from 11,500 to 12,750. The stand will include a new ‘Watch Tower’ viewing platform and a new fan-zone area;
  • New sporting offers to create destination venue for the events and sport for the wider community including a new medical and sports rehabilitation center;
  • A new 120-bed onsite hotel to boost the Worcestershire economy and encourage City-Centre tourism;
  • A new, versatile, multifunctional events space capable of hosting conferences, banquets, exhibitions, and other special occasions;
  • A national center for esports, catering for the growing video game competition;
  • The development will create new job opportunities in hospitality, healthcare and events while also featuring an adaptable industrial space to cater for and attract businesses to the area; and
  • Improved transport connections through a new multistory car park and enhanced cycle links with a view to reintroduce shuttle bus services to and from the City Centre and rail station on matchdays to serve Sixways.

Stated Stephen Vaughan, Strategy Director for Worcester Warriors, “We’re excited to reveal these new plans for Sixways and set the stage for a sustainable future for the club and its supporters. These new plans for Sixways, alongside the club’s recent application to join the RFU’s new Tier 2, demonstrate our aspirations to return to playing competitive rugby for the supporters of the club and the wider Worcestershire community alike. The feedback from our fans and the local residents is essential in shaping our plans. We want to know how we can best meet the needs of the Warriors’ community to create a vibrant destination for sport, entertainment and wellbeing that benefits everyone.”
