The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has announced that WrestleMania 39 became the most-successful and highest-grossing event in the company history. The two-night, sold-out event held at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles (US) on April 1st-2nd, 2023 set new records for viewership, gate, sponsorship, merchandise, and social media.

‘WWE’ stated that Night 2 of WrestleMania 39 surpassed the existing global viewership record by 33 percent, just one day after Night 1 of WrestleMania 39 surpassed the existing global viewership record by 28 percent.

Stamford (US)-based the World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., doing business as WWE, is an American professional wrestling promotion company. A global integrated media and entertainment company, WWE has also branched out into other fields, including film, American football and various other business ventures.

WrestleMania 39 was the 39th annual WrestleMania professional wrestling pay-per-view and livestreaming event produced by WWE. It was held for wrestlers from the promotion’s Raw and SmackDown (American professional wrestling television program) brand divisions. The event took place as a two-night event on April 1st-2nd, 2023 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, US.

The SoFi Stadium is a 70,240-seat sports and entertainment indoor stadium in the Los Angeles suburb of Inglewood, California, United States. SoFi occupies the former site of the Hollywood Park Racetrack, three miles from the Los Angeles International Airport and immediately Southeast of the 17,505-capacity The Kia Forum.

Raw is a brand of the American professional wrestling promotion WWE that was established on March 25th, 2002. Brands are divisions of WWE’s roster where wrestlers are assigned to perform on a weekly basis when a brand extension is in effect.

‘WWE’ further stated that WrestleMania 39 generated a gate of more than $21.6 million, breaking the previous record by 27 percent, with 161,892 in attendance at SoFi Stadium over the two nights.

In addition, WrestleMania 39 broke all-time sponsorship and merchandise records. Sponsorship revenue eclipsed $20 million, more than doubling the previous record. Merchandise sales were up 20 percent versus the record set in 2022.

WrestleMania 39 became the most social WrestleMania of all-time, with over 500 million views and 11 million hours of video consumed over the two days, a 42 percent increase over last year.
