Legacy Development in charge of Hutto city mixed planning

Legacy Development has been picked up as the new initiator vis-à-vis mixed-use development of the city of Hutto (US) the price tag of which is $800 million. The project is located at Hwy. 79 at CR 132, adjoining Fritz Park.

A City Council meeting held on September 19 declared that added attractions would come up and the project would be executed in collaboration with Perfect Game and Sports Facility Advisory/Sports Facilities Management.

Perfect Game, USA’s largest baseball scouting organization will be in charge of coordinating the project.

“We selected Legacy because they are nationally known to be passionate about their work and their clients’ satisfaction and they find solutions and produce results. We look forward to the innovative and creative spirit they bring to the table,” said Mayor Doug Gaul.

Previously, Wolverine Interests, LLC was roped in as the head developer. But things turned sour and the city terminated its contract and charged Wolverine with breach of contract and filed action on July 26 against the developer. The city sought compensation of more than $1 million for damages from Wolverine.

The development will add a dynamic element to Hutto, dramatically increasing tourism and hotel and convention business and bring a Class-A sports facility to Hutto,” remarked Dan Lowe, Managing Partner of Legacy Development.

Founded in 1996, Legacy has developed 55 properties in 14 States throughout the midwest and southwest. The developer of real estate assets has negotiated more than $1 billion in public-private partnerships.

“When cities entrust us with their property and sales tax revenue, we take it very seriously. We feel very honored that you trust us with your community,” Lowe further remarked.

Both Lowe and Hutto City Manager Odis Jones have decided to involve the community in the project. They will host a community engagement forum with all parties of the development wherein members of the public can ask questions and gain a greater insight into understanding of the site plan, construction schedule and how the site will fit into the greater Hutto community.

“The goal when we develop projects is to fit them into the communities in which we build them. We still believe Perfect Game can play their first games Memorial Day of 2021,” Lowe averred.

Lowe is confident that the site will be ready for use by its original Memorial Day 2021 opening date. He is pretty sure about the same following a discussion with both city staff and the project’s fellow partners.
