Inter Miami CF facilities work on at full tilt

Work is on in full steam in regards to the Ford Lauderdale stadium and training complex with 250 construction professionals working overtime to ensure that the facility gets rolling in 2020.

Come March 2020, and Inter Miami CF – the professional soccer expansion team to be based in Miami, Florida in US, will hit the field in the new 18,000-capacity stadium anchoring the club’s 46-acre facilities in Fort Lauderdale.

The stadium has gone vertical with all steel columns being placed on the east side and half of them being placed along the west. Work on setting up components of the secondary frame of the metal building will start soon, along with the horizontal structural members that will provide lateral support for wall panels. By November end, work on seating installations will begin.

“All eyes are on March 2020. We are grateful for the professionals who are working around the clock, to help us launch our team in facilities and a stadium our community will be proud of,” said Jurgen Mainka, Chief Business Officer for Inter Miami CF.

Fort Lauderdale’s training facilities will be open to players from around the world for preseason for both the MLS and the recently announced USL League One team, which will serve as a feeder system for the development Academy. Presently, steel, concrete, and roofing work for the 50,000-square-foot building is in progress.

Inter Miami’s Academy, who is on top of the heap on scoreboards across all age divisions in their inaugural season, will also move to the training complex upon opening. The complex is equipped with four main locker rooms with the first team occupying a sleek 1,740 square-foot room.

The club which boasts 200+ players will also benefit from a full kitchen and cafeteria, lounge and classroom, weight room and performance lab, hydrotherapy and treatment rooms as well as tactics rooms and boot rooms.

Outside of the building, work is underway on six natural grass fields and one turf field, with soiling all set to take place by October end to pave the way for grass installations by mid-November.

In January this year, Inter Miami evinced interest and intimated to the city of Fort Lauderdale vis-a-vis building a futuristic soccer training facility, stadium and community destination centering around sports on the former Lockhart Stadium site. In May, the demolition work started with construction beginning in July which was preceded by finalizing a lease deal for the property with the City of Fort Lauderdale.

A team comprising pick of professionals in their respective fields are working by the sweat of their brow to bring this project to life which includes the Lockhart Construction team, Manica Architecture, Perez & Perez Architects Planners, Bliss & Nyitray Inc, Structural Engineers, SDM Consulting Engineers, Flynn Engineering Services and EDSA, Inc.
