It has been 15 years now that professional football is being played religiously at the Munich Olympic Stadium in Germany. However, that will change again next year. Recently, the city announced that the designated third division promoted Türkgücü Munich has been given the thumbs-up to play a maximum of eight games in the arena in the Olympic Park.

Munich Olympic Stadium is a stadium located in Munich, Germany. Situated at the heart of the Olympiapark München in northern Munich, the stadium was built as the main venue for the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Türkgücü München is a German association football club from the city of Munich, Bavaria.

Türkgücü München can play their remaining home games in the football stadium in Munich, Grünwalder Stadium, home of TSV 1860 Munich – the football club which plays in the second German Bundesliga. The TSV 1860 Munich and the second team of German professional sports club FC Bayern continue to play their games in Grünwalder Stadium.

There have been a lot of discussions as to where the regional league leaders could play their home games in the future. A solution has been found finally. “It was not an easy negotiation. We are now all the happier to have found a satisfactory solution with everyone involved,” remarked Munich’s Sports Officer Beatrix Zurek.

Event venue Olympiapark Managing Director Marion Schöne stated, “After making an appointment with us and outside of the open-air season, Türkgücü can now host up to eight games in the Olympic Stadium. Welcome under the famous tent roof!”

FC Bayern Munich last played football matches in the Munich Olympic Stadium which stands out for its distinctive roof in the 2004-05 seasons before the Bavarian giants moved to the majestic Allianz Arena in Bavaria, Germany.

FC Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer is happy with the aforementioned arrangement.

Grünwalder Stadium in Munich is the most popular stadium as far as professional football is concerned. Türkgücü München is very much interested in playing in the 69,250-capacity Munich Olympic Stadium.

Talks on the future occupancy of Grünwalder Stadium have been very fruitful. FC Bayern will work overtime to ensure that their second team will get to play in the stadium in the future and has inked a pact regarding the same.

Hainer said that the Grünwalder Stadium is steeped and imbued in tradition, legacy and rich history. “Passing generations fall back on the beautiful memories of the stadium and it will be an integral part of FC Bayern’s history,” he added.
