LaLiga matches may see full house again

The Spanish Government stated recently that Spain will be more or less back to normal when it comes to allowing fans ingress to stadia next season.

‘Sportstar’ stated that only a limited number of fans had been allowed into first-division soccer games in parts of the country where the pandemic was more under control.

Spain is one nation where COVID-19 till not very long back has had a calamitous effect taking a huge toll on lives and causing devastation on all fronts.

The above announcement was made by Health Minister Carolina Darias after a Cabinet meeting that approved new rules that include allowing people to stop wearing face coverings while outdoors.

The ‘Sportstar’ further stated that some limits on the number of fans are still likely by the time the LaLiga season starts, though, depending on the coronavirus situation in each region.

The Spanish league (LaLiga – the men’s top professional football division of the Spanish football league system) expects to begin its season with about 70 percent of capacity at stadia. The LaLiga 2021-2022 campaign will begin on August 13^th, 2021 and will conclude on May 22^nd, 2022.

The announcement comes just as some clubs begin promoting their renewal campaigns for season ticket holders.

Nil gate-related earnings are causing huge financial woes to many clubs in Spain.

Since COVID-19 bared its fangs on the world in March 2020, in-person attendance in Spain stadia has hardly been allowed.

The ‘kicker’ quoted Darias as stating, “We are returning to normal when it comes to spectator attendance in the football leagues. The rule will now apply not only in the case of football, but also in the case of basketball.”

The ‘kicker’ further stated that in the 2020-2021 LaLiga seasons, spectators were allowed in arenas in certain regions such as Valencia and the Balearic Islands in Spain on the last two match days. At that time, however, a maximum occupancy of 30 percent was stipulated, with a maximum of 5,000 fans being allowed.
