‘Los Blancos’ home roof to steal the show

The Spanish professional football club – one of the world’s best known teams which have a huge fan following the world over – Real Madrid CF – has unveiled incredible footage of the retractable roof of their home – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium – reshaping of which is underway.

The residence of Real Madrid (Spain) is undergoing total transformation – complete spruce-up, a state-of-the-art look has been lent by adding a futuristic façade, retractable roof and premium facilities.

The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is a football stadium in Madrid, Spain. With a current seating capacity of 81,044, it has been the home stadium of Real Madrid since its completion in 1947. It is the second-largest stadium in Spain and the largest in the Community of Madrid. In fact, it is one of the world’s most famous football venues.

The ‘Daily Star’ stated that the La Liga giants had initially planned to open their rehabilitated home in the summer of 2022 but now the project is expected to finish earlier. The outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 worked to their advantage in the sense that the revamp work of their digs was on in full swing as there was no in-person attendance in the stadium during the last LaLiga season and Real Madrid used this opportunity to play their home matches at their reserve ground – the 6,000-capacity Estadio Alfredo di Stefano, where they also played Chelsea in the Champions League. This provided more room to the construction workers to speed up redecoration work.

The sleek roof will help Santiago Bernabéu Stadium to find its name and place in the list of football’s most spiffy arenas.

The ‘Daily Star’ further stated that apart from the very stylish roof, a modern 360 degree screen will circle the ground with a multistory car park to sit underneath the facility.

A new shopping center and as well as several eateries will also come up to provide fans a stupendous matchday experience – they will be spoilt for choice – shop till you drop and eat to one’s heart’s delight.

More than 700 workers are working by the sweat of their brows to upgrade the arena and make it very high on the chic quotient and plans are in place to coincide the reopening of the repurposed venue with the Spanish Government’s nod to allow fans to re-enter stadia in full force.

When ‘Real’ will be playing in their revamped venue, a new man will be leading the charge – Carlo Ancelotti and it will be his second stint with the ‘Los Blancos’ – the first being between 2013 to 2015. During his first spell, the Spanish giants won the Champions League, Copa del Rey and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Super Cup under his able guidance.

The 61-year-old Ancelotti had joined the Premier League club Everton FC (UK) as their boss last season, yet quit ‘The Toffees’ camp after only one season, to return to the Spanish capital.

He has been replaced by former Liverpool F.C. gaffer Rafael Benítez Maudes in a controversial move by the Everton hierarchy.
