Wembley EUROPE fan experience Image: Booking.com

Booking.com, the Official Accommodation Booking Partner of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2020™, has provided lucky competition winners the chance to stay overnight inside Wembley Stadium’s (UK) luxurious and expansive Stadium Suite and watch with bated breath the drama, thrills and squeals as well as the pitch action unfold at the UEFA Euro 2020 Semi-Finals (read already over) and Finals to be held on July 11th.

The competition was open to the football fans from Great Britain, Denmark, Germany, France, and Spain who were given the chance to win the Ultimate Overnight Football Experience at the UEFA EURO 2020™ Final or Semi-Final in London.

The competition was announced way back in November 2019 as Booking.com revealed results of a European-wide survey of 7,500 football fans, where 72 percent declared that staying as close to the stadium as possible is a top priority when organizing their football-inspired travels.

‘Booking.com’ stated that staying in the plush Stadium Suite of Wembley Stadium is indeed the dream of every football fiend.

Providing the ultimate overnight football experience, Booking.com’s ‘Stadium Suite’ overlooks the hallowed turf of Wembley Stadium, home to UEFA Euro 2020™ Semi-Finals and Finals.

In the Euro 2020 semi-finals held at the Wembley Stadium on July 6th, Italy beat Spain 4-2 on penalties to book a final berth. Italy is now girding up its loins to face England at the soccer spectacle finals also to be held at the Wembley Stadium on July 11th.

Euro 2020 presently underway is the 16th UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international men’s football championship of Europe organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). It is being held from June 11th and will conclude on July 11th, 2021.

The 90,000-capacity Wembley Stadium is a football stadium in Wembley, London (UK). It opened in 2007 on the site of the original Wembley Stadium, which was demolished from 2002 to 2003. The stadium hosts major football matches including home matches of the England national football team, and the FA Cup Final.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is the administrative body for football, futsal and beach soccer in Europe. It is one of six continental confederations of world football’s governing body FIFA. UEFA consists of 55 national association members.

Founded in 1996 in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Booking.com has grown from a small Dutch start-up to one of the world’s leading digital travel companies. ‘Booking.com’ stated that the plush Stadium Suite, containing a huge double bed, football-themed soft furnishings and private balcony with the best seats in the house, was unveiled by Booking.com at the Semi-Final clash between Italy and Spain on July 6th.

Lucky fans will enjoy all the pitch action and avoid the crowds, staying over in the stadium post-match before waking up to breakfast pitchside as well as the chance to freshen up in the players changing room the next day. COVID-19 social distancing and safety guidance will have to be adhered to throughout the experience.

Competition winners take up residence for the ultimate overnight football experience at the Semi-Finals (which has already been held) and the around the corner Finals.

Arjan Dijk, Senior Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer, Booking.com, stated, “For football fans this is truly an overnight football experience to rival all others! Watching Europe’s finest players battle it out on the pitch before enjoying a ‘backstage pass’ to Wembley Stadium – staying over and soaking up that truly unique and special stadium pre-, during and post-match in Booking.com’s unique ‘Stadium Suite’! This has been a tournament with some unmissable moments on the field, and we hope our competition winners can create some unforgettable memories off pitch, which is what Booking.com believes travel, holidays, events, and attractions are all about.”
