Spain has increased the permitted attendance for fans in stadia for the month of September to 60 percent. This announcement was made by the Minister for Health Spain, Carolina Darias, on September 1st.

The ‘News9 Live’ stated that Darias made the announcement in a presser held on September 1st and informed that the cap on crowds at outdoor stadia in the country was being increased from 40 percent and for indoor arenas from 30 percent to 40 percent.

Darias stated that while arriving at the above decision, she particularly had LaLiga (the men’s top professional football division of the Spanish football league system) and the top basketball league – Liga ACB – in mind.

She added that it would be up to the different regions of Spain to decide whether to follow the guidelines or enforce a lower ceiling.

The ‘News9 Live’ further stated that the measure has come into effect immediately and applies to “the entire month of September”.

On September 1st, Spain reached its goal of vaccinating 70 percent of its population against COVID-19, which translates into the fact that 33.3 million Spaniards have been vaccinated against the dreaded virus which at one point of time throttled the European country.
