A major new phase of construction is underway at the MSG Sphere at The Venetian (US), as crews have started building the massive steel structure that will support the advanced audio and visual immersive technologies that will make MSG Sphere a first-of-its-kind entertainment destination.

The ‘Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp.’ stated on LinkedIn that crews were able to begin this work inside the venue bowl after finishing the concrete and steel domed roof – a process they just completed late last month.

The MSG Sphere at the Venetian is expected to open in 2023.

The MSG Sphere at The Venetian is a sphere-shaped music and entertainment arena being built in Paradise, Nevada, near the Las Vegas Strip and East of the Venetian resort (US). The 17,500-seat auditorium was initially scheduled to open in 2021 but construction was suspended in late March 2020 due to a disruption in the project’s supply chain caused by COVID-19 which has the United States in its fatal grip. Construction resumed later that year, with the opening rescheduled for 2023.

The ‘Fox 5 Vegas’ stated that this latest phase is one of the most complex construction activities of the entire project. It involves building a 730-ton steel framework that will form the outline of the interior LED display and help support the venue’s Holoplot audio system.

Once completed, the 160,000 square foot LED display will be larger than three football fields – wrapping up over and around audiences to create a fully immersive visual environment. The audio system will feature approximately 170,000 speakers and utilize beamforming technology to deliver crystal-clear audio to guests.

The ‘Fox 5 Vegas’ further stated that MSG Entertainment informed that constructing this framework will continue into next year.

New York (US)-based the MSG Entertainment is a world leader in live entertainment. MSG Entertainment also features the Radio City Rockettes, the legendary New York dance company that serves as the star of Christmas Spectacular at the Radio City Music Hall, which has been a holiday tradition for 88 years.

MSG Entertainment’s other properties include Boston Calling Events, which produces New England’s premier Boston Calling Music Festival.
