Over half a million tickets sold for FIFA Womens WC Image: Coliseum GSVA

FIFA announced that more than 500,000 tickets were sold to fans from more than 120 countries to attend the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ matches in Australia and New Zealand.

‘QNA’ stated that the tournament is scheduled to take place from July 20th to August 20th, and ticket sales began last week, with the finale being the most sought-after match.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ is scheduled to be the ninth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup competition, the quadrennial international women’s football championship contested by the women’s national association football teams organized by FIFA.

The tournament will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand and is scheduled to take place from July 20th to August 20th, 2023. It will be the first FIFA Women’s World Cup™ to have more than one host nation, and also be the first senior World Cup of either gender to be held across multiple confederations, as Australia is within the Asian Confederation while New Zealand is within the Oceania Confederation.

‘QNA’ further stated that the opening match will be held on July 20th at the 50,000-capacity Eden Park Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, and the final match will take place at the 83,500-capacity Stadium Australia in Sydney, Australia, a month later.

This will be the first edition in the history of the tournament, which will witness the participation of 32 teams, and it will witness the first participation of Morocco, Zambia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and the Republic of Ireland.

FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said that the ticket sales process for the tournament made a great start, and this is not limited to the local fans in Australia and New Zealand, as the list of the highest countries that witnesses a demand for tickets includes the United States, England, Qatar, Germany, China, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, and France so far.

She added that this matter reflects the growing value of women’s football, and the great enthusiasm that is growing among fans all over the world, who want to be part of the championship.
