Coliseum Summit EUROPE 2023 PR 1 Image: Coliseum GSVA

‘Coliseum’ is almost on a whistlestop tour of conducting conferences – an art in which it excels. The 2023 MENA Conference held at the Meydan Racecourse in Dubai (UAE) is just over, and now the Coliseum Summit EUROPE is almost round the corner – to be held at the Twickenham Stadium, UK, on March 22nd-23rd, 2023.

2023 Coliseum Summit EUROPE is all set to be a soldout event at the Twickenham Stadium with two venue tours lined up and information on the same will be disseminated shortly. The most desirable feature of the Coliseum Summits – the final flourish – is the speakers – top guns of the sports venue industry. For the Europe edition, 40 speakersvenue bigwigs – have been lined up who will enrich the distinguished gathering with their ‘information explosion’ on the varied topics related to the sports venue sector through their unique case studies.

Claudio Cailá Müller, Head of FWC 2022 Project, FIFA, Switzerland, will talk on how Qatar 2022 was a blockbuster and swept the fans off their feet. He will also speak on how Qatar has rolled out the best of breed stadia and the advantages of holding a sporting showcase in one City i.e., the compact nature of Qatar 2022.

Müller will also provide an outlook on the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ and will point out how the host countries – United States, Mexico and Canada – can take pages out from the Qatar 2022 book as well as what lessons FIFA can derive from the Qatar version and emulate it in the 2026 soccer spectacle.

Echoing Müller’s views, Helmut Spahn, Director Safety, Security and Access, FIFA, Switzerland, will talk about all the positive aspects of Qatar 2022 – no alcohol policy resulting in less din, smooth access to stadia, security screenings, and the Haya Card for fans.

Alex Barbany Fernández, Executive Director, Espai Barça, FC Barcelona, Spain, will dissect the Espai Barça development plan of the LaLiga team FC Barcelona and how the top-flight’s ambitious reconstruction plans for its home pitch – the Spotify Camp Nou – as well as its facilities is well underway.

With Mother Earth baking due to intense global warming and other climate catastrophes taking place globally, constructing ‘Green’ venues is the need of the hour. Vincent Reulet, Head of Sustainability, UEFA, Switzerland, will talk on how the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is taking up the Green cudgels and has launched its Sustainable Infrastructure Guidelines which covers in details topics like sustainable football venues and facilities, encouraging knowledge transfer and sharing of best practices.

Continuing with the hot-button sustainability topic, Helen Taylor, Ambassador of Forest Green Rovers FC and Director of FGR Community, UK, will share how the greenest football club on the planet – the Forest Green Rovers Football Club – has started work on their new eco-friendly home ground – the ‘Eco Park’.

She will also inform that Forest Green Rover’s sustainability message has garnered a media reach of almost 6 billion per season, and is supported by a profitable business model.

Paris 2024 is fast approaching and Anthony Piqueras, Director, Venues & Infrastructures, Paris 2024, will keep the gathering posted on how world-class sports venues will be in the spotlight for the Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in Paris (France) from July 26th-August 11th, 2024, and how Paris is holding the Games after 100 years – the last time it held the sporting extravaganza was in the year 1924.

Emmanuel Bouscasse, Head of Communications, Rugby WC France 2023, will enlighten the audience on the 2023 Rugby World Cup which is set to be the 10th Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men’s rugby union teams.
