Salernitana unbolt major home restyling plans

The Serie A club Salernitana have unveiled a new €95m project to completely revamp their home ground – the Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy. The redevelopment work is scheduled to be completed by December 2025.

‘Football Italia’ stated that the tab of the redecoration project will be picked up by the local authorities. The project details were presented recently by the Governor of the Campania region (Italy) Vincenzo De Luca.

The Unione Sportiva Salernitana 1919, commonly referred to as Salernitana, is an Italian professional football club based in Salerno, Campania (Italy). The original club was founded in 1919 and has been reconstituted three times in the course of its history, most recently in 2011.

The Arechi Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Salerno, Italy. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Salernitana. The stadium holds 37,800 supporters.

‘Football Italia’ further stated that as part of the revamp plans, the facility will come armed with solar panels to make it energy-efficient and also in keeping with the sustainability factor. A refurbished hospitality area will come up along with 18 different Sky box sections.

Overall, there will be just one set of stands rather than two tiers, therefore making room for better sightlines.

The capacity of the venue will stand at 35,000 seats, but they will all be covered to protect fans from the weather elements.

Governor Luca made it clear while unveiling the above project that the present Arechi Stadium will not be pulled down and the restyling work will be done on the existing structure. Towards the Curva Sud, a Salernitana Museum will come up.

It is likely that while the restyling work of the Arechi Stadium is on, Salernitana may have to play some of their home games on a neutral turf.

‘salernonotizie’ stated that the changing rooms of the Arechi Stadium will be restructured and the major rejig work will lend a futuristic look to the arena.

‘salernonotizie’ further stated that the Salernitana President Danilo Iervolino has expressed his displeasure over the fact that the Municipality of Salerno has served summons to the top-flight over the Curva Nord remaining closed and informed that they are working on the legal aspect of the same.
