Manuel Vizcaíno Fernández, President of the LaLiga club Cádiz CF (Spain), has said that the top-flight is looking for land to build a new 30,000 capacity stadium.

‘DIARIO DE CADIZ’ quoted Fernández as stating, “Undoubtedly, the Cádiz CF and the City of Cádiz (City in Spain) is in dire need of a mixed-use facility which will remain open 365 days in a year and which can offer an idyllic kind of ambience to the guests visiting the facility.”

Cádiz Club de Fútbol, S.A.D., known simply as Cádiz, is a Spanish professional football club based in Cádiz, Andalusia (Spain). Founded in 1910, the club competes in LaLiga, the top men’s professional football division of the Spanish football league system, and holds their home games at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla in Cádiz, Spain.

The 20,724-capacity Nuevo Mirandilla is a football stadium in Cádiz, Spain. The stadium is the home ground of Cádiz CF. The stadium was originally inaugurated as the Estadio Ramón de Carranza on September 3rd, 1955. It has since then been completely rebuilt twice.

‘DIARIO DE CADIZ’ further quoted Fernández as asserting that a new venue for Cádiz CF coming up means also generating jobs in the area which has seen a “surge in unemployment. I feel a new venue can also trigger economic development in Cádiz”.

He further stated that the concerned authorities are showing their willingness for a new arena to be built – “We will build the stadium as well as pick up the tab for the same on our own. We want to build a striking stadium so that Cádiz is not just known for its cruise ships but also for a jaw-dropping stadium with added attractions. I want to make it clear that we do not want to build a new facility with the taxpayers’ money and want the local administration to allow the club to grow just like their peer teams Sevilla FC and Real Betis Balompié.”

He informed that if greenlighted, the new venue would boast a capacity of 35,000 with a retractable pitch – “The venue should be aesthetically appealing.”

The top gun hoped that with the LaLiga Impulso plan (project to boost the global growth of LaLiga and its clubs), the venue construction would “get rolling soon”.

He further remarked that if they got the go-ahead, “between 2025 and 2026 Cádiz will boast a new stadium. The club brings revenues for the City to the tune of more than 100 million euros a year and this is something which the local authorities should take into consideration and give the nod at the earliest to build a new venue as well as fast track the land part. A new stadium would not just be in the best interests of us but for everybody in the City.”
