Dammam Stadium construction will start mid-year Image: Ministry of Sport

The Ministry of Sports has received offers from the contracting companies to build the new Dammam Stadium in Saudi Arabia which will have a capacity to hold 40,000 spectators. Construction work is expected to begin in July and work is scheduled to be completed by December 2025.

‘MEED’ stated that the new venue will come armed with extensive hospitality areas, lodges and sky boxes and plush entertainment facilities.

The new stadium plans are part of Saudi Arabia giving huge fillip to venues as it will be hosting the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)-based the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of association football, beach soccer and futsal in most countries/territories in Asia. It has 47 members.

The 2027 AFC Asian Cup will be the 19th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, the quadrennial international men’s football championship of Asia organized by the Asian Football Confederation. The tournament involves 24 national teams after the expansion in 2019. It will be held in Saudi Arabia.

‘MEED’ further stated that the facility will be lent a football layout and will be used to host football fixtures and other big-ticket events. The stadium will sit Southeast of Dammam’s City Center.
